Senior militant killed in Gaza: Islamic Jihad

GAZA (Reuters) - An Israeli air strike killed a senior Islamic Jihad militant in the central Gaza Strip on Thursday, the militant group and hospital officials said.

The officials identified the man as Mohammad Abu Murshud, head of Islamic Jihad's armed wing in the central Gaza Strip.

An Israeli army spokesman confirmed there had been an air strike in the central Gaza Strip, but did not say who had been targeted in the attack.
