G8 sees 2050 emissions target, work with U.N.: draft
TOYAKO, Japan (Reuters) - The G8 rich countries want to work with nearly 200 states in United Nations climate change talks to adopt a goal of at least halving greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, a draft communique showed.
The communique, obtained by Reuters and which has yet to be formally approved by Group of Eight leaders at a summit in northern Japan, also said mid-term goals would be needed to achieve the shared goal for 2050.
