FACTBOX: Security developments in Afghanistan

(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan reported until 11:00 GMT (6 a.m. EST) Friday.

KABUL - Eight prisoners were killed and 15 wounded when Afghan security forces launched a search operation in a jail on Thursday, deputy justice minister, Mohammad Qasim Hashimzai said.

SOUTHERN AFGHANISTAN - A roadside bomb killed two soldiers from the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force, (ISAF) in southern Afghanistan Thursday, a statement from ISAF said.

HERAT - U.S.led coalition and Afghan special forces killed three insurgents and detained two in a pre-dawn operation in the Shindand district some 670 km (420) miles west of Kabul on Friday, a senior Afghan army official said.
