Zimbabwe's MDC might attend opening of parliament

HARARE (Reuters) - Zimbabwe's main opposition MDC said on Monday it might attend Robert Mugabe's opening of parliament on Tuesday but did not recognize him as the country's president.

MDC Secretary-General Tendai Biti said the party may take part in the opening out of respect for the new speaker, one of its members, but that "must not be construed as recognition of Mugabe."
