UAE urges Yemen to secure its embassy in Sanaa

DUBAI, May 22 (Reuters) - The United Arab Emirates urged Yemen on Sunday to secure its embassy in Sanaa where Western and Gulf diplomats were reported stranded after gunmen loyal to President Ali Abdullah Saleh surrounded the mission.

“The appeal was made during a telephone conversation Sheikh Abdullah (bin Zayed al-Nahayan) had with the Yemeni Foreign Minister Abubakr al-Qirbi earlier today,” the UAE state news agency said. (Reporting by Firouz Sedarat; Writing by Cynthia Johnston)
