UPDATE 2-Xstrata smelter workers in Chile vote to strike

SANTIAGO, Dec 17 (Reuters) - Union workers at Chile's Altonorte copper smelter voted to strike after they rejected a wage offer from owner global miner Xstrata , union leaders told Reuters on Thursday, and the company said it would seek mediation.
