Aviakompaniya UTair OAO, Aviakompaniya Sibir' OAO and Aeroflot OAO File Claim against Irkutsk FAS over Price Fixing Accusation-Interfax

Monday, 7 Oct 2013 10:45pm EDT

Interfax reported that Aviakompaniya UTair OAO (UTair), Aviakompaniya Sibir' OAO (Sibir) and Aeroflot OAO (Aeroflot) have filed a claim to the Arbitration Court of the Irkutsk region against the Federal Anti-monopoly Service in the Irkutsk region (Irkutsk FAS), which found the companies guilty of price fixing on Irkutsk-Moscow route and was preparing to announce a fine. The hearing on UTair lawsuit is scheduled for October 10, on Sibir on October 24. The hearing on Aeroflot claim has not been determined, but the claim is registered, the press service of the arbitration court told Interfax. As reported earlier, Irkutsk FAS recognized four airlines guilty of price fixing in order to maintain high level of prices on the route from Irkutsk to Moscow: Aeroflot, UTair, Sibir and Ural Airlines, which, according to FAS, in the second half of 2012 and early 2013, behind the scene, in oral form, coordinated pricing policy on this route. According to FAS, all four airlines have established maximum prices for tickets to Moscow only in Irkutsk. Tickets of the same carriers to the capital city from Chita, Krasnoyarsk, or Ulan-Ude were significantly cheaper. The airlines have been sent instructions to terminate the agreement and present FAS with documentary evidence that the practice was resolved.
