Toyota Motor Corp:Toyota Motor Corp is close to a deal to pay more than $1 billion to end a U.S. criminal probe of how it disclosed drivers' complaints of unintended acceleration, according to people familiar with the matter.-Dow Jones. An agreement could come within weeks barring setbacks and would cap a four-year investigation by U.S. prosecutors. There are still a few sticking points in Toyota's negotiations with prosecutors, people familiar with the matter said, and the potential deal could fall apart and the amount of the potential settlement also could change.A settlement could come despite lack of evidence to date that the cars suffered from a mechanical or electronic defect, and prosecutors are examining whether the company made false or incomplete disclosures to regulators about possible defects in cars, according to people familiar with the matter.
