Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd:Fuji Heavy Industries said on Thursday it is recalling more than 80,000 Subaru vehicles in Japan over issues with parking brakes and engine ducts. - RTRS.Roughly 64,000 vehicles produced in 2014-2015, including the Levorg sports wagon, WRX sports sedan and Legacy sedan, have issues with parking brakes, the company said.Separately, around 17,000 vehicles produced in 2015, including the Forester crossover model and the Levorg, WRX and Legacy, are being recalled over faulty engine ducts.Fuji Heavy said it expected models exported overseas would also be included in the recall, without giving further details.  Full Article

Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd:Says the company amended the consolidated full-year outlook for the FY ending March 2016.Confirmed the revenue at 3,210,000 million yen.Confirmed the operating profit forecast at 550,000 million yen.Confirmed the ordinary profit forecast at 547,000 million yen.Net profit forecast increased to 414,000 million yen from 372,000 million yen.Earnings per share forecast increased to 530.51 yen from 476.69 yen.Comments that extraordinary profit of about 48.2 bln yen is the main reason for the forecast.  Full Article

Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd:Abu Said Shekh was awakened in his cell at a Japanese immigration detention centre one recent morning and told he was leaving for the airport. After nine years of seeking political asylum in Japan, he was being deported to Bangladesh - RTRS.He was among 22 illegal immigrants, including an undisclosed number of failed asylum seekers, that were put on a state-chartered plane and flown back to Bangladesh on Nov. 25, Japan's Justice Ministry said - RTRS.Shekh featured in a Reuters investigation in July into the use of asylum seekers and other migrant workers in the Subaru automaker Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd’s 7270.T supply chain. - RTRS.At the time, he painted interior car parts, working illegally but protected from deportation while his asylum claim was being assessed. - RTRS.Reuters found that firms in Subaru's supply chain, facing severe labour shortages and straining to meet soaring demand from the United States, had turned to a grey market of foreign workers, including asylum seekers - RTRS.In September, Tokyo announced plans to tighten restrictions on asylum seekers' right to work and placed new curbs on some reapplicants - RTRS.Last week, four Japanese non-governmental organisations criticised the “human rights and humanitarian problems” of detaining and deporting at short notice failed asylum seekers like Shekh, and other long-term residents of Japan.- RTRS.  Full Article

Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd:Says together with Mazda Motor Corp and Mitsubishi Motors Corp would recall about 710,000 more cars equipped with air bag inflators made by parts supplier Takata Corp - Reuters.Mazda said it was recalling about 112,000 vehicles in Japan, including the Atenza sedan, Bongo van and two models it builds for Nissan Motor Co and Mitsubishi Motors.Fuji Heavy, the maker of Subaru cars, is recalling 91,000 Imprezas in Japan.Both Mazda and Fuji Heavy said they were still working out plans for any recall overseas.Mitsubishi Motors is calling back about 100,000 cars in Japan and 412,000 overseas.  Full Article

Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd:U.S. safety regulators, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), have opened an investigation into Subaru Impreza sedans from model year 2012 because the front passenger seat air bags may fail to operate - Reuters.NHTSA said it had received 26 vehicle owner questionnaires involving the Imprezas' occupant detection system failing to operate or incorrectly turning off the front passenger air bag when the seat is occupied, which could increase the risk of injury in an accident.The investigation involved an estimated 33,500 cars.The NHTSA also noted that Subaru, a unit of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd, published a technical service bulletin in May 2012 to address conditions that lead to the passenger seat air bag turning off when the front seat is occupied.The U.S. safety agency said it was opening the probe, called a preliminary evaluation, to assess the scope, frequency and consequence of the potential problem and any possible connection to the earlier service bulletin.The company said it has had no reports of accidents or injuries related to the matter.  Full Article
