ABB Ltd announced that Estonia has built a national network of stations for electric car charging. The technology comes from the Company. Station network for fast charging of electric vehicles with 165 web-connected fast chargers for direct current, manufactured and supplied by the Company, was officially opened on February 20, 2013. DC (direct current) chargers are installed in urban areas with over 5,000 inhabitants and along main roads across Estonia. The Company's DC chargers Terra 52 need between 15 minutes and 30 minutes to charge an electric car. The Company won the contract in 2011 and has completed the project in six months. The contract also includes a five-year agreement on technical operation services to loading stations, which are connected to the central management system through Internet, as well as underlying Information Technology (IT) architecture. Commercial services to the final customer are handled by local third parties and are based on a payment platform taken from the parking industry.
