Abengoa SA:Completes construction of the project to supply drinking water from Xangongo to Ondjiva in the province of Cunene, southern Angola.Project involved construction of a plant with a capacity to treat 16.3 Ml of water per day.Says it was responsible for laying 100 km of pipelines that will transport the water from the River Cunene to the plant.The works form part of the plan with Namibia launched by the Angolan Ministry of Energy and Water to supply water to the northern part of Namibia in southern Africa.The plant to benefit about 250,000 people.  Full Article

Abengoa and Ferrovial selected for railway electrification project in UK

Abengoa SA:Says the consortium comprising Abengoa and Ferrovial has been selected by Network Rail to electrify 250 km of railway lines in southern England.Says the five-year contract is worth about 230 million euros (190 million pounds).Says the contract includes the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the electrification of the Basingstoke-Southampton and Basingstoke-Reading railway lines in the southern part of the country.Says the works are expected to begin in June and be completed in 2019.  Full Article

Abengoa SA to develop solar-thermal plant in Chile-DJ

Abengoa SA:The company has been selected by the Ministry of Energy of the Chilean Government and Corfo (Corporacion de Fomento de la Produccion) to develop a 110 MW solar plant using tower technology with 17.5 hours of thermal energy storage using molten salts-DJ.The project will be located in the Atacama Desert.As part of this tender, the project will receive direct subsidies from the Chilean Government and the European Union, as well as financing from the Inter-American Development Bank, KFW Kreditanstalt fur Wiederaufbau, the Clean Technology Fund and Canadian Fund.Construction of the project is due to start in the second half of 2014.  Full Article

Abengoa SA Secures New Electricity Transmission Project For The Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency

Abengoa SA announced that it has been chosen by the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL) to carry out a new electricity transmission project in the country. The investment equals an amount of EUR170 Million and it is forseen that Abengoa will directly contribute EUR20 million, approximately. Abengoa will be responsible for carrying out the engineering, design, construction, maintenance and commissioning of the electricity transmission concession, which will cover 367 km, ensuring the highest levels of quality at every stage. The line will come into operation in September 2017. The concession comprises a 367 km transmission line with a capacity of 500 kV between the Marimbondo II and Campinas substations. The project is located in the states of Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais in south east Brazil.  Full Article
