Interfax reported that board of directors of Russian Aeroflot OAO has approved the creation of a consolidated airline in the country's Far East, the carrier said in a statement. Aeroflot OAO CEO Mr. Vitaly Savelyev said in July that the Company plans to form a Far Eastern regional airline from Sakhalin Airways and Vladivostok Avia. Aeroflot would be the controlling shareholder and the Far Eastern regions would own the remaining shares. Asked whether the Sakhalin and Vladivostok airlines would be disbanded if the new airline is set up, Mr. Savelyev said this was still being discussed and the form of reorganization had not yet been decided. The state Russian Technologies (Rostekhnologii) corporation handed the Sakhalin and Vladivostok airlines to Aeroflot OAO at the end of 2011. Aeroflot OAO also received the Rossiya airline and Orenburg Airlines. Rostechnologii received 3.55% of Aeroflot OAO's shares in return.
