Alfa Laval AB announced that it has won an order from Wartsila to supply Alfa Laval Aalborg waste heat recovery system to a gas-fired power plant in South Africa. The order, booked in the Marine & Diesel Equipment segment late December 2012, has a value of approximately SEK 50 million. Delivery is scheduled for 2013. The Alfa Laval Aalborg heat recovery boilers will be installed in a newly built power plant in Sasolburg where they will recover waste heat from the gas engines’ exhaust gases and utilize this energy to generate superheated steam for the refinery process of the nearby ethylene production plant. Alfa Laval AB announced that it has acquired the US-based company Air Cooled Exchangers, LLC (ACE), a manufacturer of custom-engineered air-cooled heat exchangers, used to cool air, natural gas, oil and water in the natural gas market as well as other energy-related end markets. Alfa Laval AB announced that it has won an order to supply compact heat exchangers to an LNG plant (Liquefied Natural Gas) in Australia. The order is worth approximately SEK 50 million and delivery is scheduled to take place in 2013 and 2014. The Alfa Laval compact heat exchangers will be used in a new gas processing facility in Australia where they will recover and reuse heat in the gas cleaning process, prior to the liquefaction. By reusing heat the compact heat exchangers will contribute to bringing down energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Full Article
Alfa Laval AB Wins New Solar Power Order in South Africa
Alfa Laval AB announced that it has received an order from Abengoa to supply Alfa Laval Packinox heat exchangers to a concentrated solar power plant in South Africa. Delivery is scheduled to be finalized in 2014. The Alfa Laval Packinox heat exchangers, specifically developed for this application, will be the heart of the thermal storage system where heat from solar power is stored in molten salt, thereby enabling electricity production even on rainy days or at night. The solution will allow the plant to operate for additional hours on stored energy, in this case an additional three hours (from 12 to 15 hours) which is a 25% efficiency increase compared to normal daytime solar power production.
