Alaska Air Group Inc's Horizon Air Orders Up To 10 Bombardier Inc's Q400 Nextgen Turboprop Airliners

Bombardier Inc's Bombardier Aerospace announced that Seattle-based Alaska Air Group Inc's Horizon Air has signed a firm contract to acquire three 76-seat Bombardier Q400 NextGen turboprop airliners. The transaction represents the conversion of three previously booked options on the aircraft. The airline also reconfirmed its options on another seven Q400 NextGen aircraft. Based on the list price of the Q400 NextGen aircraft, the contract announced today is valued at approximately USD98 million. The three new aircraft will increase Horizon Air's orders for Q400 and Q400 NextGen airliners to 51 aircraft. Including the order announced today, Horizon Air has ordered a total of 100 Bombardier Dash 8/Q-Series aircraft since 1985.  Full Article

Alaska Air Group Inc's Alaska Airlines And ALPA Tentatively Agree On Five-Year Pilot Contract

Alaska Air Group Inc's Alaska Airlines and the Air Line Pilots Association, International announced they have reached tentative agreement on a new five-year contract for the carrier's 1,480 pilots. The proposed contract includes pay raises, and quality of life and productivity improvements. ALPA's leadership is unanimously recommending that Alaska pilots ratify the tentative agreement, and a vote is expected to be completed in mid-July. The current contract was ratified in May 2009 and became amendable on April 1. Negotiators for ALPA and Alaska Airlines have been working on a new contract since last summer.  Full Article

Alaska Air Group Inc Announces $250 Million Share Repurchase Program

Alaska Air Group Inc announced that board of directors has approved a stock repurchase program authorizing the Company to buy up to $250 million of its common stock. The program does not have an expiration date, however, Air Group is targeting completion by Dec. 31, 2014.  Full Article

Alaska Airlines Announces Share Repurchase Program

Alaska Airlines announced that the Board of Directors also has approved a stock repurchase program authorizing the Company to buy up to $50 million of its common stock over the next year. The Company intends to finance the stock repurchases with cash on hand. The repurchase program authorizes Air Group to buy its common stock from time to time through open market purchases, negotiated transactions or other means, including accelerated share repurchases and 10b5-1 trading plans in accordance with applicable securities laws. Alaska Air Group has repurchased 8.3 million shares of its common stock for nearly $262 million through similar programs over the past five years.  Full Article

Alaska Airlines announced that Bill Ayer will retire as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Air Group and its subsidiary carriers, Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air, effective at the company's annual shareholder meeting on May 15, 2012. Earthquake measuring 7.5 strikes off southeastern Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A powerful earthquake measuring 7.5 magnitude struck a remote corner of the Pacific Coast off Alaska's panhandle, triggering a tsunami warning that prompted evacuations early Saturday in the seaside borough of Sitka, but no severe damage or injuries were reported.
