Mexican Antitrust Agency Confirms America Movil SAB de CV's Dominance in Mobile-DJ
Dow Jones reported that Mexico's antitrust commission said on April 4, 2013 it confirmed an earlier ruling that America Movil SAB de CV’s unit Telcel is dominant in the Mexican mobile-telephony market, a ruling that could open the door for the telecommunications regulator to apply specific rules to the company given its market power. America Movil SAB de CV had appealed against the dominance ruling by the Federal Competition Commission (CFC). The CFC said commissioners voted unanimously on February 28, 2013 to uphold the earlier ruling. A representative for America Movil SAB de CV said on April 4, 2013 that the Company is analyzing the latest decision by the antitrust commission. Full Article

America Movil SAB de CV Launches 4G LTE Mobile Service in Mexico-DJ
Dow Jones reported that America Movil SAB de CV launched its fourth-generation mobile service in Mexico, with plans to expand the service to two-thirds of the country by early year 2013. The Company, through its local mobile unit, Telcel, invests USD 3.95 billion in the three years, from 2012 to 2014, in network upgrades, including at least USD 1 billion in equipment for the 4G LTE service. 4G LTE, which increases available download speeds to as much as 20 megabits per second, is starting in nine major Mexican cities and is expected to reach 26 cities covering 65% of the population by April of 2013. The Company also announced that the service might be extended to prepaid customers, who make up the majority of Mexico's mobile phone users. Full Article

America Movil SAB de CV (AMX) announced that in order to proceed with delisting of shares of its subsidiary Telefonos de Mexico SAB de CV (TELMEX) from the National Registry and the Mexican Stock Exchange, AMX presented on October 25, 2012 the offer of acquisition of the remaining stake in TELMEX. AMX offers to acquire approximately 2.79% of capital share of TELMEX at the price of MXN 10.2250 per share. The offer will be valid until November 23, 2012. Full Article
