Areva SA:Awarded contract by SVAFO, a company owned by four Swedish nuclear plant operators, to dismantle R2-0 and R2 research reactors located near Nyköping, Sweden.AREVA will prepare a detailed project schedule and disassemble the two reactors.Says group will also measure the radiation level of the components and package them in the appropriate storage casks before returning them to the customer.Says work on site is expected to begin in the first half of 2015.  Full Article

Areva SA:Says to have finalized financing project for SET (Societe d'Enrichissement du Tricastin), owner and manager of Georges Besse 2 enrichment plant.Loan of 650 million euros over 10 years set up with support from group of 10 international banks.Financing underpinned by future revenues from Georges Besse 2 plant, secured thanks to long-term backlog.Running to full capacity, plant is to produce enough enriched uranium to supply 70 reactors with nuclear fuel.  Full Article

Areva office, former staff's homes searched in UraMin probe-Reuters

Areva SA:Areva's headquarters and homes of former executives were searched on June 3 by France's financial prosecutor as part of investigation into Areva's $2.5 billion acquisition of Canadian uranium mining company UraMin in 2007, according to judicial source-Reuters.Source told Reuters that 11 searches had been carried out, including at home of former Areva CEO Anne Lauvergeon and Areva's former mining director Sebastien de Montessus.Prosecutor has opened investigation into UraMin acquisition after state auditor Cour des Comptes referred case to prosecutor following its audit of Areva's accounts between 2006 and 2012.  Full Article

Areva SA secures contract to supply fuel to Vattenfall

Areva SA:Says it secures contract to supply fuel assemblies for four of its seven reactors in Sweden.Contract for four years supply covers the period 2016-2020 and includes services associated with the fuel supply.Says it will manufacture the assemblies in Germany, at its plant in Lingen.Says through this cooperation, Vattenfall is securing a portion of its nuclear fuel supply over the long term.  Full Article

Areva SA:Signed agreement renewing strategic partnership with State of Niger.Agreement enshrines renewal of mining contracts held by companies SOMAÏR and COMINAK in framework of Nigerien Mining Law of 2006.Two parties to agreement will take necessary measures to ensure financial and economic profitability of these ventures and to prioritize the preservation of jobs.With current uranium prices not sufficient to allow profitable operation of Imouraren deposit, State of Niger and AREVA will set up joint strategic committee which will take decision on schedule for start of mining of deposit depending on changes in the market.AREVA will provide its financial support for local development and infrastructure projects.Financial support for funding for Tahoua-Arlit route amounting to 90 mln euros.Financial support for construction of building worth 10 mln euros to house mining companies, and which shall be the property of Niger.Provide measures to accelerate development of Irhazer valley worth 17 mln euros.  Full Article

PARIS - Areva will post a significant first-half net loss due to a drop of nearly 10 percent in sales, French daily newspaper Le Figaro reported on Tuesday, citing a source close to the French state, which controls the nuclear reactor maker.
