Bayerische Motoren Werke AG Recalls 750,000 Cars Due To Electrical Problem-Reuters
Reuters reported that Bayerische Motoren Werke AG is recalling about 750,000 of its vehicles in the United States, Japan, Canada and South Africa due the chance of an electrical failure that may cause the cars to stall unexpectedly, U.S. regulators and the Company said. Vehicles sold in Germany, BMW's home market, and the rest of Europe are not involved in the recall. The recall affects Bayerische Motoren Werke AG's popular 3-Series sedans, convertibles, coupes and sports wagons, as well as its 1-Series coupes and convertibles and Z4 two-seat roadsters. In some markets, the X1 crossover vehicle is also part of the recall. The affected vehicles were built between March 2007 and July 2011. Full Article

Dow Jones reported that Toyota Motor Corp and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW AG) will expand a technology sharing pact for hydrogen-fueled and other vehicles, the latest sign of a growing partnership between the two companies. Toyota will provide BMW with technical know-how for fuel cell vehicles that the Japanese auto maker expects to debut in 2015. They will also work together on a next-generation fuel cell system expected to be completed by 2020. That hydrogen-powered technology is key for the low emission fuel cell vehicles both companies plan to launch. The two companies signed a landmark deal in December 2011 to cooperate on various green car technologies and in which BMW agreed to supply diesel engines to Toyota. Full Article

Reuters reported that Toyota Motor Corp is nearing an agreement to license its fuel-cell vehicle technology to Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW), the Nikkei reported. Under the agreement, to be made official on January 24, 2013 Toyota will provide BMW with drivetrain and hydrogen storage technology, the business daily said.
