Michael Baker Corp Secures Contract For Rehabilitation Of Three Pittsburgh Bridges
Michael Baker Corp announced that it has been awarded a five-year, $2.7 million contract by the Allegheny County (Pa.) Department of Public Works for the rehabilitation of the Roberto Clemente (6th Street), Andy Warhol (7th Street), and Rachel Carson (9th Street) Bridges in Pittsburgh. Specifically, Baker will provide preliminary engineering, final design and construction-phase services for the rehabilitation of the three bridges. Included in these services will be bridge inspection, structural analysis and rehabilitation design, utility coordination, maintenance and protection of traffic, roadway design, lighting design, paint evaluation, field surveys, right-of-way investigation, and public involvement services. L.R. Kimball will serve as a subconsultant on the project and will perform the bridge inspection and prepare the rehabilitation plans for the 7th Street Bridge. Full Article
Michael Baker Corp Secures Contract To Provide Design Services For ODOT District-12 Project
Michael Baker Corp announced that it has been awarded an 18-month, $1.1 million design contract, as part of the DLZ Ohio, Inc., team, by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), District-12. Baker will provide drainage design and design of temporary traffic control during construction for the widening of I-271 within a six-mile combined section of the I-271/I-480 corridor located in the Ohio communities of Oakwood, Bedford, Bedford Heights and Warrensville Heights. These services will facilitate the safe and efficient movement of traffic through the work zone, and insure the constructability of elements within the project area. Full Article

Michael Baker Jr., Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE MKT:BKR), has been awarded a contract by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), District 12, to design the replacement of the 12-span Derry Borough Bridge in Westmoreland County, Pa. The agreement is for five years and has a total value over the term of $2.2 million. Specifically, Baker will provide preliminary and final design for the project which includes the replacement of the structure over the Norfolk Southern railroad. It also includes reconstructing the approach roadway, pedestrian facilities, lighting, and updating the guide rail, pavement markings, traffic signal and signing. West Third Street will be reconstructed to create a T-intersection with Route 217, and East Third Street will be terminated with a cul-de-sac. Michael Baker Jr., Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corp announced that it has been chosen by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), Engineering District 2-0, to provide construction inspection services on a district-wide, open-end contract for projects in Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Juniata, McKean, Mifflin and Potter Counties, Pa. This $2 million contract began in March 2013 and is expected to last for up to five years. The contract will include various roadway, structure and/or new bridge replacements/rehabilitation construction projects. Michael Baker Jr., Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corp announced that it has been awarded a 23-month, $6.5 million contract to provide supervision of construction services for the first phase of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority`s (NJTA) non-roadway facilities upgrade program, which will bring NJTA`s assets up to current standards and into a state of good repair. Specifically, Baker and its team members will provide a broad range of services in support of the multi-phased program, which includes the replacement of the NJTA District 6 Maintenance Facility and three State Police Stations as part of the first phase of the program. New Jersey project areas planned under this award include Secaucus, Newark, Galloway and Mount Laurel.
