Toyota, Bayerische Motoren Werke AG Expand Technology-Sharing Partnership For Fuel Cell, Other Vehicles-DJ

Thursday, 24 Jan 2013 04:20am EST

Dow Jones reported that Toyota Motor Corp and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW AG) will expand a technology sharing pact for hydrogen-fueled and other vehicles, the latest sign of a growing partnership between the two companies. Toyota will provide BMW with technical know-how for fuel cell vehicles that the Japanese auto maker expects to debut in 2015. They will also work together on a next-generation fuel cell system expected to be completed by 2020. That hydrogen-powered technology is key for the low emission fuel cell vehicles both companies plan to launch. The two companies signed a landmark deal in December 2011 to cooperate on various green car technologies and in which BMW agreed to supply diesel engines to Toyota.
