Koninklijke Boskalis Westminster NV:Says its wholly owned subsidiary Dockwise has been awarded a contract by Bechtel for Module Transport Services, for the Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project in Western Australia.Says the contract value is estimated at about $275 million and work will commence in early 2014.Says the scope of work includes logistical management and transportation of over 100 modules from the Wheatstone Project module yards in China and Malaysia to the Wheatstone Project site located at Ashburton North, 12 kilometers west of Onslow in Western Australia.Says it will use its full breadth of heavy marine transport assets to complete its scope, including an expected total of six Dockwise Heavy Marine Transport Vessels (HTVs), barges, Floating Super Pallets (FSP), two new SMIT Giant barges and Anchor Handling Tugs (AHTs).  Full Article

Koninklijke Boskalis Westminster NV:Says the Hollands Noorderkwartier Regional Water Board and the Department of Public Works and Water Management intend to award the company's 50/50 joint venture with Van Oord a contract.Says the contract concerns the reinforcement and maintenance of the Hondsbossche and Pettemer Sea Defense from Petten to Camperduin, the northern stretch of the Dutch coastline.Says the contract is worth about 140 million euros and comprises the construction and maintenance of the new sandy coastline for 20 years.Says the project is part of the second national High Water Protection Program.Says the contract will be signed on Dec. 11, 2013.Says the project will commence early 2014 and will encompass sand replenishment for the construction of a beach and dunes.Says that after completing the project on Dec. 31, 2015, the joint venture will be responsible for maintaining the coastline for subsequent 20 years.  Full Article

Koninklijke Boskalis Westminster NV and Royal Volker Wessels Stevin N.V announced that they have combined their forces in the field of offshore cable installation by establishing a 50/50 joint venture. The joint venture creates a party combining know-how and equipment allowing it to respond effectively to growth in the market for offshore cable installation projects, particularly in relation to offshore wind farms. Boskalis and VolkerWessels each hold a 50% stake in the joint venture Visser & Smit Marine Contracting Holding B.V. (VSMC) through Boskalis Offshore Subsea Contracting B.V. and VWS Civil and Offshore Constructions B.V., respectively. VSMC will have two cable-laying vessels at its disposal, the Stemat Spirit and Ndurance. The Ndurance is expected to be delivered at the end of this year. Both vessels are fitted with DP class 2 equipment with a cable turntable capacity of around 5,000 tonnes.  Full Article

Koninklijke Boskalis Westminster NV announced that it has acquired a contract from Associated British Ports for the capital dredging of the approach channel to the port of Southampton in the United Kingdom. The contract has a value of approximately EUR35 million and the activities are due to commence shortly. The dredging activities are related to the deepening of the 40 kilometer long approach channel. A total volume of approximately three million cubic meters of hard clay, sand and gravel will be removed over a 12 month period. For this project medium sized trailing suction hopper dredgers along with backhoe dredgers will be deployed. Customized working methods and continuous monitoring will be applied in order to meet the stringent environmental requirements.  Full Article

Koninklijke Boskalis Westminster NV announced that, due in part to the close-out result realized on the Port Rashid project and the favorable settlement of a longstanding equipment-related insurance claim, the Company is raising its fiscal year 2013 net profit guidance and expects to report for that period a net profit of at least EUR 360 million. Koninklijke Boskalis Westminster NV (Boskalis) announced that it has completed the sale of the activities of Dockwise Yacht Transport (DYT). These activities are to be transferred to Sevenstar Yacht Transport B.V. based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Boskalis sold the DYT activities including two dedicated semi-submersible yacht transport vessels (Super Servant 4 and Yacht Express) for a total consideration of USD 40 million.
