Myanmar Names China Mobile Ltd And Other Bidders In Race For Two Mobile Licences-Reuters
Reuters reported that Myanmar has announced the names of 12 international consortia that have pre-qualified to bid for two mobile licences, moving closer to opening one of the last major untapped mobile markets. The companies include Bharti Airtel Ltd, China Mobile Ltd, KDDI CORP, MTN Group Ltd, Singapore Telecommunications Ltd, Telenor ASA and Digicel, a group backed by billionaire George Soros. The pre-qualified applicants will be required to submit their applications to the committee by June 3, 2013. The committee expects to announce the names of two winners to receive 15-year telecommunications licences by June 27, it said. China Mobile has teamed up with Vodafone Group Plc, while France Telecom SA is working with Marubeni Corporation, and Africa's MTN with M1 Telecom and Amara Communications. SingTel has joined with Myanmar Telephone Co Ltd and KBZ, while KDDI has teamed up with Japan's SUMITOMO CORP and Myanmar Information and Communication Technology Development Corp. Other pre-qualifiers are Axiata Group Bhd, Millicom International Cellular SA, Qatar Telecom QSC and Viettel Group. The bidding has attracted wide interest from international telecoms firms, which see huge opportunities in a country of 60 million where mobile penetration is just 5%-10%, compared with rates of over 100% in many developed markets. China Mobile Ltd Recommends Final Dividend
China Mobile Ltd announced that its Board of Directors has recommended a final dividend of HKD1.778 per share for the year ended December 31, 2012 and, if such dividend is declared by the members passing resolution number 2, it is expected to be paid on or about June 26, 2013 to those shareholders whose names appear on the Company’s register of members on June 10, 2013. China Mobile Ltd announced that in view of the SASAC Auditor Requirements, the Company has reached a mutual understanding with KPMG on the non-renewal of the appointment of KPMG, the transitional arrangements and other related matters, and agreed that after KPMG has completed the audit work in respect of the Company for the financial year ended December 31, 2012 (the FY 2012), the Company will not re-appoint KPMG as its auditor for the financial year ending December 31, 2013 (FY 2013). As recommended by the Audit Committee of the Company, the board of directors of the Company (the Board) has resolved to put forward an ordinary resolution at the 2013 annual general meeting of the Company (2013 AGM) to appoint PricewaterhouseCoopers and PricewaterhouseCoopers Zhong Tian CPAs Limited Company (to be renamed as PricewaterhouseCoopers Zhong Tian LLP) as the auditors of the Company for FY 2013 for Hong Kong financial reporting and U.S. financial reporting purposes, respectively. China Mobile Ltd Recommends Final Dividend
China Mobile Ltd announced that the Board recommends payment of a final dividend of HKD1.778 per share for the financial year ended December 31, 2012 in accordance with the dividend payout ratio of 43% planned for the full financial year of 2012. This, together with the interim dividend of HKD1.633 per share that was paid in 2012, amounts to an aggregate dividend payment of HKD3.411 per share for the full financial year of 2012. Alcatel Lucent SA announced that lightRadio Metro Radio – co-developed by Alcatel Lucent SA and China Mobile Ltd - will be launched on February 26, 2013 at the Global TD-LTE Initiative’s (GTI) “TDD Night” during Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona. Alcatel Lucent SA and China Mobile Ltd signed a co-creation agreement in January 2012 to conduct joint development and test activities on a series of lightRadio TD-LTE projects to speed the deployment of LTE in China. lightRadio Metro Radio houses two lightRadio cubes, fully integrated with a directional antennae. China Mobile Ltd Announces Share Subscription Agreement And Strategic Cooperation Agreement With Anhui USTC iFlytek Co Ltd
China Mobile Ltd announced that on August 23, 2012, China Mobile Communication Company Limited (CMC), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company, entered into the share subscription agreement and the strategic cooperation agreement with Anhui USTC iFlytek Co Ltd and the shareholders’ agreement with the controlling shareholders of Anhui USTC. A summary of the major terms of the agreements is set out as follows: Anhui USTC agrees to issue to CMC and CMC agrees to subscribe from Anhui USTC 70,273,935 ordinary shares of Anhui USTC with a par value of RMB1 per share representing 15% of the total issued and outstanding shares of Anhui USTC upon completion of the share subscription and other concurrent non-public offerings by Anhui USTC and The Strategic Cooperation Agreement takes effect upon completion of the Transaction and is valid for a term of three years, which term shall automatically be renewed for a term of one year upon expiry, unless either party objects to the renewal before the expiry and no agreement on renewal is reached after negotiations in good faith between the parties. According to the Strategic Cooperation Agreement, both parties shall enter into strategic cooperation in various areas including smart voice portals, smart voice cloud services, smart voice technologies and product innovations, applications in relation to customer services and fundamental telecommunications businesses and industry informatization. China Mobile Ltd Declares Interim Dividend
China Mobile Ltd announced that the Board has declared an interim dividend of HKD1.633 per share for the six months ended June 30, 2012. The register of members of the Company will be closed from September 10, 2012 to September 12, 2012 (both days inclusive). During this period, no transfer of shares will be registered.
