Cablevision Systems Corp Sues Viacom Inc Over Fees For Low-Rated Networks-Reuters

Reuters reported that Cablevision Systems Corp has accused Viacom Inc in an antitrust lawsuit of forcing it to pay for more than a dozen low-rated cable networks in order to get access to Viacom's more popular channels such as Nickelodeon, MTV and Comedy Central. The case is under seal and not available for public viewing. The Cablevision press release does not reveal how much money is at stake in the case.  Full Article

Charter Communications Inc To Acquire Optimum West From Cablevision Systems Corp

Charter Communications Inc and Cablevision Systems Corp announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Charter Communications Operating, LLC will acquire Cablevision Systems Corp's Bresnan Broadband Holdings, LLC (Optimum West) for $1.625 billion in cash. Optimum West manages cable operating systems in Colorado, Montana, Wyoming and Utah that pass more than 660,000 homes and serve 304,000 video subscribers and 366,000 customer relationships.  Full Article

Time Warner Cable Inc Bids For Cablevision Systems Corp's Optimum West-Reuters

Reuters reported that Time Warner Cable Inc has made a bid to buy Cablevision Systems Corp's Optimum West business, Bloomberg reported. Cablevision said in November it was looking to sell its cable assets in four western U.S. states that it bought for $1.4 billion in 2010, after it received inquiries about the business. Charter Communications and Suddenlink Communications have also made offers. According to a source, a deal is not likely to be announced until January or February.  Full Article

The new agreement enhances the multichannel business model and supports the companies’ mutual goal to deliver the video content to customers across multiple platforms. Cablevision Systems Corp Announces Closing Of Offering Of $750 Million Of Senior Notes

Cablevision Systems Corp announced that it has closed a public offering of $750 million of senior notes due 2022. Cablevision intends to invest the net proceeds of this offering in its subsidiary, CSC Holdings LLC, with which CSC Holdings LLC will address its upcoming debt maturities through the tender offers it commenced on September 13, 2012 for $600 million of its 8.50% Senior Notes due 2015 and 8.50% Senior Notes due 2014, by repaying amounts outstanding of its Term Loan B-2 and for general corporate purposes.  Full Article

The Shuman Law Firm announced that it is investigating potential claims against certain officers and directors of Cablevision Systems Corp. The firm's investigation primarily concerns the Company’s response to and public disclosures concerning competition from Verizon Communications, Inc. in the cable television business in the New York Metropolitan area. These ongoing issues have led to the filing of a class action lawsuit against the Company and its officers and has also coincided with a drop in Cablevision’s stock price since.
