DRDGOLD Limited : Six months ended dec 31 heps to be between 2.66 cents and 2.14 cents per share versus heps of 2.6 cents per share for previous corresponding period . Q2 volume throughput amounted to 6,0 million tonnes compared to 6,6 million tonnes, a 10 pct decrease . Q2 gold production amounted to 1 066kg compared to 1 034kg, a 3 pct increase .Gold production for year ending 30 june 2017 is expected to be between 136,000 and 140,000 ounces at cash operating costs of between r468,000 per kilogram and r482,000 per kilogram..  Full Article

DRDGold Ltd : Group results for the year ended 30 June 2016 . FY revenue rose by 16 pct to R2.4331 billion . FY headline earnings up 28 pct to 12.7cps . FY operating profit up 13 pct to R434.8 million . FY dividend up 520 pct to 62cps . Gold production was 4 pct lower at 143 457oz due to a 9 pct decline in average yield to 0.180g/t . FY gold sold was 5 pct lower at 143 232oz due to lower production . FY free cash flow(1), an important measure to DRDGold, has increased by 25 pct to R308.7 million .All-In sustaining costs (aisc) increased by 21 pct to R499,425/kg due to a decrease in production and an increase in per kilogram cash operating costs.  Full Article

DRDGOLD Ltd:A South African court on Monday began two weeks of hearings to determine if gold miners suffering from debilitating lung diseases they say they contracted at work can proceed with a class action lawsuit against the industry - RTRS.The industry is opposed to the lawsuit proceeding as a class action, which would enable plaintiffs to join forces as a "class" as opposed to thousands of individual cases - RTRS.Working deep underground for years without proper protection, countless South African miners inhaled silica dust from gold-bearing rocks and later contracted silicosis - RTRS.A disease which causes shortness of breath, a persistent cough and chest pains, it makes people highly susceptible to tuberculosis, which kills - RTRS."If the court certifies the class, the lawsuit will proceed as the largest ever class action law-suit in the coun-try and on the continent," the Legal Resources Centre, a human rights group which has joined the case, said in a statement on Monday - RTRS.Attorney Richard Spoor, whose legal battle against a South African asbestos-mining company led to a $100 million settlement in 2003, told Reuters he had signed up more than 30,000 former miners and their dependants for the lawsuit - RTRS.Another law firm, Abra-hams Kiewitz, has also joined the suit, which targets AngloGold Ashanti, Harmony Gold, Sibanye Gold, Gold Fields, Anglo American, DRDGold, & African Rainbow Minerals - RTRS.  Full Article
