Reuters reported that Telefonica Czech Republic as, Deutsche Telekom AG’s T-Mobile Czech Republic and Vodafone Czech Republic belonging to Vodafone Group Plc won an auction of radio spectrum for 4G high-speed mobile data networks in the Czech republic, the telecoms regulator said on Tuesday (November 19, 2013). The regulator, Cesky telekomunikacni urad (CTU), said two newcomers that had taken part in the sale, which raised CZK 8.5 billion (USD 420.44 million) for the country, did not gain licenses. CTU announced that Telefonica Czech Republic auctioned frequencies for CZK 2.802 billion while T-Mobile Czech Republic will pay CZK 2.614 billion and Vodafone Czech Republic CZK 3.113 billion.  Full Article

Deutsche Telekom AG Buys GTS Central Europe For EUR546 Million-Reuters

Reuters reported that Deutsche Telekom AG said it had bought GTS Central Europe for EUR546 million ($729 million) in a deal which hands the German telecom operator a fibre optic fixed-line and infrastructure business in Eastern Europe. GTS is a telecommunications service provider with network and data centre infrastructure, focused on serving business customers. Deutsche Telekom said it is acquiring GTS from a consortium of international private equity firms, including Columbia Capital, HarbourVest Partners, Innova Capital and M/C Partners.  Full Article

Telefonica Czech Republic as announced that it signed an agreement with T-Mobile Czech Republic (belonging to Deutsche Telekom AG) concerning the sharing of their existing mobile networks of second and third generation (2G and 3G networks). The aim of cooperation is to ensure the coverage of 2G and 3G networks in the Czech Republic and increasing the operational efficiency of mobile networks of both companies. The agreement is the result of negotiations launched in August this year (2013). The companied did not disclose any financial details.  Full Article

Telekomunikacja Polska SA and Deutsche Telekom's T-Mobile Extend Cooperation-Reuters

Reuters reported that the Polish unit of Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile, has agreed to share its 4G mobile network with the cellphone arm of Telekomunikacja Polska SA (TP SA). TP SA, controlled by France's Orange, failed to win frequencies to offer its own 4G high speed broadband services in February 2013. T-Mobile and smaller rival Play paid Poland some PLN 500 million each for the frequencies. TP SA and T-Mobile have already been sharing their cellphone networks in Poland since 2011. The new 4G deal will last the next 14 and a half years.  Full Article

Dow Jones reported that Axel Springer AG said it isn't considering purchasing Deutsche Telekom AG's online classified ads unit Scout at the moment. Axel Springer Chief Executive Officer Mathias Doepfner has regularly said in the past that Scout would fit into Axel Springer's strategic goals. Deutsche Telekom said at the end of fiscal 2012 that it is also considering an initial public offering for the unit.  Full Article
