DexCom Inc Receives U.S. FDA Approves For Dexcom G4 PLATINUM Continuous Glucose Monitor

DexCom Inc announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved its eagerly anticipated new continuous glucose monitoring system, the Dexcom G4 PLATINUM. Clinical trials report up to approximately 19% improvement in overall accuracy for the Dexcom G4 PLATINUM compared to the Seven Plus, and approximately a 30% improvement in accuracy in the hypoglycemia range (i.e., when blood glucose is less than 70mg/dl). DexCom Inc Announces Research Collaboration With JDRF

DexCom Inc announced that JDRF, has partnered with Dexcom, Inc. The goal of the partnership is to accelerate the development of a wireless smart transmitter that would allow a CGM system to communicate directly with an artificial pancreas control device currently being used for research studies, instead of only with a CGM receiver. JDRF will provide Dexcom up to $500,000 over 12 months in funding to complete the development, testing, and manufacturing of a custom smart transmitter prototype, which will be used for studies within JDRF's Artificial Pancreas Project academic research consortium.  Full Article

DexCom Inc And Tandem Diabetes Care Announce CGM Development And Commercialization Agreement

DexCom Inc announced that it has entered into a Development and Commercialization Agreement with Tandem Diabetes Care, Inc. to integrate a future generation of DexCom’s continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology with Tandem’s t:slim Insulin Delivery System, the first ever touch-screen insulin pump. The Development and Commercialization Agreement is non-exclusive and limited to the U.S. market. Under the terms of the Agreement, Tandem will pay DexCom a technology license fee of $3 million, reimburse DexCom’s development, clinical and regulatory expenses, and upon commercialization of the combined system, Tandem will pay DexCom a royalty of $100 for each CGM-enabled insulin pump sold  Full Article
