Reuters reported that Telefonica SA, Telecom France SA and Vodafone Group Plc are teaming up to launch a service that will help them to compete with WhatsApp, Viber and Skype. The joint service of Telefonica SA, Telecom France SA and Vodafone Group Plc will be available in Spain under the Joyn name and will offer free messaging, enhanced call features and in some cases free calls. Joyn, which allows users to send video and pictures while on a smart phone, is available for Android phones and will be shortly launched for Appleās iPhone. Full Article

France Telecom SA Presents Livebox Play-Les Echos
Les Echos reported that France Telecom SA presented the Livebox Play for the first time on November 21, 2012. The Livebox Play has two Wi-Fi frequencies and is compatible with the VDSL2 standard. Reuters reported that Fitch Ratings downgraded its long-term rating for France Telecom SA from A- to BBB+ with a stable outlook, while confirming the Company's F2 short-term rating. France Telecom SA Confirms FY2012 Operating Cash Flow Target; Comments on FY 2013 Operating Cash Flow Guidance; Proposes FY 2012 and FY 2013 Dividend
France Telecom SA announced that the third-quarter 2012 performance enables the Company to confirm its full year 2012 operating cash flow target of close to EUR 8 billion. The Group expects full year 2013 operating cash flow of more than EUR 7 billion which will return to growth in full year 2014. The Group aims to return to a net debt/EBITDA ratio of close to two at the end of full year 2014 and has decided to adapt its dividend policy. Accordingly, France Telecom-Orange will propose a dividend for both 2012 and 2013 of at least EUR 0.80 per share. Full Article
France Telecom SA's Orange Business Services Wins Three-year Global Network Services Contract with Turkey-based Manufacturing Company
France Telecom SA announced that Orange Business Services, its branch dedicated to B2B services, will provide global network services to support the business-critical applications and systems of Kordsa Global, a manufacturing company specialized in nylon and polyester yarn, cord fabric and single end cord production. Under a three-year contract, Kordsa Global will use Business VPN from Orange Business Services to provide network services to its Istanbul, Turkey headquarters and 10 locations in Argentina, Brazil, China, Egypt, Germany, Indonesia, Thailand, Turkey and the United States. France Telecom SA-Orange to Cut 5,000 Jobs by 2015-Agence France Presse
Agence France Presse announced that France Telecom SA-Orange is to cut approximately 5,000 jobs by 2015. The Company plans to employ 4,000 people between 2013 and 2015. However, it expects 9,000 to retire between 2013 and 2015, meaning that it will lose 5,000 jobs overall. Full Article

Dow Jones reported that the Romanian Telecom Market Regulator ANCOM announced that Cosmote, France Telecom SA's Orange, RCS & RDS SA, Vodafone Group Plc and 2K Telecom paid EUR 682.14 for mobile telephone licences in the frequency bands 800 megahertz, 900 megahertz, 1,800 megahertz and 2,600 megahertz. Between them the five companies have acquired 85% of the available frequencies. Orange Romania, France Telecom SA's Romanian subsidiary will pay EUR 227.14 million, while Vodafone Group Plc's Vodafone Romania will pay EUR 228.52 million. Full Article
Hutchison Whampoa Ltd's Hutchison 3G And France Telecom SA's Orange Austria Deal Faces Full EU Probe-Reuters
Reuters reported that EU regulators object to Hutchison 3G's agreed EUR1.3 billion ($1.7 billion) takeover of France Telecom SA's Orange Austria and will carry out a full probe, in a move likely to force more concessions to win approval. The European Commission, which has been examining the takeover since June, has said it is worried the deal would cut the number of telecoms operators in Austria to three from four and lead to higher consumer prices. The case is being watched closely by telecoms executives and investors for how it might apply to bigger markets such as Spain, Italy and Germany - which also have four mobile operators and are seen as in need of consolidation. Orange beats Yoigo in race to launch 4G in Spain
MADRID, May 10 - France Telecom's Orange will launch superfast mobile Internet in Spain on July 8 in six cities, making it the first to make 4G services widely available in the country and beating rival Yoigo by a matter of days.
