Fuel Tech Inc Secures Air Pollution Control Orders Totaling $5.7 Million

Thursday, 29 Aug 2013 07:00am EDT

Fuel Tech Inc announced the receipt of four air pollution control (APC) contracts from new customers in China, along with an APC order for the US. These awards have an aggregate value of approximately $5.7 million. The first award in China is for ULTRA systems for two coal-fired units that are being retrofitted with nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction technology. Fuel Tech`s ULTRA process provides for the safe and cost-effective on-site conversion of urea to ammonia for use as a reagent in the selective catalytic reduction of NOx, eliminating the hazards associated with the transport, storage and handling of anhydrous or aqueous ammonia. Three additional awards are for new customers in China for Fuel Tech`s HERT High Energy Reagent Technology and NOxOUT Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction (SNCR) systems for multiple coal-fired boilers at petrochemical, cement and industrial power generation facilities. Equipment deliveries for all four contracts are expected to occur in the fourth quarter of this year. In the US, an order was received for a conventional Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system on an industrial gas-fired boiler at a fertilizer production facility. The system includes the SCR reactor, flow mixing devices, and ammonia injection grid and aqueous ammonia feed system, all of which are keys to optimal SCR performance. Delivery is expected in the first quarter next year. In addition, project upgrades were received on two previously announced domestic APC projects.
