HindalCo Industries Ltd's Subsidiary Announces Acquiring Alumina Refinery From Novelis inc's Subsidiary

HindalCo Industries Ltd announced that it has finalized its arrangement for acquiring Alumina Refinery and Bauxite Mines from Novelis Do Brasil Ltda, a wholly owned subsidiary of Novelis inc. The agreement was executed between Novelis Do Brasil, Novelis Inc. and AV Minerals (Netherlands) B.V., a wholly owned subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Ltd. The Alumina Refinery, with a capacity of 145 KPTA, situated in the city of Ouro Preto, State of Minas Gerias, Brazil, has Mining Rights of over 50 million tonnes of Bauxite reserves. HindalCo Industries Ltd's Novelis Sign Multi-Year Agreement for Supply of Aluminum Sheet for Jaguar Land Rover

HindalCo Industries Ltd's subsidiary Novelis, announced that it has been selected by Jaguar Land Rover as its sole supplier of automotive sheet products in a multi-year agreement. Under the agreement, Jaguar Land Rover secures rolled aluminum from Novelis for a wide range of Jaguar Land Rover models, helping to support the auto maker to reduce the weight of its vehicles and thereby decrease CO2 emissions. As a key component of the sole-supplier relationship, Novelis will recover and recycle all the automaker's aluminum scrap, thus creating a closed-loop recycling system. Also, Novelis aluminum will be used in the all-new Range Rover, the Sports Utility Vehicle.  Full Article

Odisha Pollution Control Board Orders Shutdown Of HindalCo Industries Ltd's Power Unit-The Economic Times

The Economic Times reported that Odisha's pollution control board has ordered Hindalco Industries Ltd to shut its captive power plant near Hirakud after chemicals from its breached ash pond damaged crops in the adjoining areas. The closure order was issued on Saturday. The board has also directed Hindalco to repair the dyke breach and clean up effluents from the affected areas.  Full Article

Hindalco Industries Limited Planning To Raise INR9,000 Crore (INR90 Billion) For Odisha Greenfield Project-The Economic Times

The Economic Times reported that Hindalco Industries, is on an aggressive drive to raise funds for its biggest greenfield project in Odisha. The Company plans to tap about INR9,000 crore (INR90 billion)for the project. "We are planning to raise up to INR9,000 crore (INR90 billion) for the Odisha project, but are yet to decide on the route, whether it will be a bank term borrowing or any other instrument," said one of the Company officials directly involved in the exercise. The Company's senior executives are scheduled to announce their plans at an investor meet scheduled later this week.  Full Article

Hindalco Industries Limited Recommends Dividend; Announces Allotment And Completion Of Secured Redeemable Non-convertible Debentures

Hindalco Industries Limited announced that the Board of Directors of the Company at its meeting held on June 27, 2012, inter alia, has recommended the payment of Dividend on Equity Shares of the Company for the Financial Year Commencing on April 01, 2011 upto March 31, 2012, to the equity shareholders at INR1.55 per Equity Share of the face value of INR1 each i.e. 155% per share subject to shareholders and other approvals. The Dividend on the Equity Shares, will be paid/dispatched to the Company‚Äôs Equity Shareholders, on September 15, 2012 and the warrants will be made encashable at par in accordance of arrangement made by the Company with the Bankers as per guidelines of Reserve Bank of India. The Company also announced that on June 27, 2012 has completed issuance of Secured Redeemable Non-convertible Debentures amounting to INR1,500 Crores(INR15 billion) on Private Placement basis at the coupon of 9.55% PA. The Committee of Directors in their meeting held on June 27, 2012, approved the allotment of 15,000 Secured Redeemable Non-convertible Debentures on Private Placement basis, having the face value of INR10,00,000 each to the eligible Investors, in accordance with SEBI (Issue and Listing of Debt Securities) Regulations, 2008, and other relevant laws. The proceeds will be used, for general, business purposes including capital expenditure, working capital, refinancing of existing debt.  Full Article

India Sesa Sterlite's copper smelter to be shut for 22 days-sources

NEW DELHI, March 18 - India's No.1 refined copper producer Sesa Sterlite Ltd will shut its smelter for 22 days starting April 26, two company sources said on Tuesday, in what would be the first maintenance closure in four years and cut supplies to top buyer China.
