Reuters reported that H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB will apply to open stores in India, as it seeks to expand into faster-growing markets. The Indian government has been pushing through reforms to allow foreign retailers into the country to help stimulate the economy. Like Swedish furniture maker IKEA, which is waiting for its own application to be approved, H&M hopes to cash in on a growing urban middle-class with a strong demand for western-lifestyle products.  Full Article

SeeNews - The Corporate Wire reported that the Uvertura Mall in Romania's northeastern city of Botosani has signed a lease agreement for the opening of a H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB store in the spring of 2013, real estate company DTZ Echinox, the mall's manager, said. The 1,575-square-meter-store, which will be located on two floors of the commercial center, will be the twenty-fourth location of the Company in Romania, DTZ Echinox said in a statement. Part of the portfolio of Romanian developer Moldova Mall, Uvertura Mall has a gross leasable area of 15,000 square meters and was 82% pre-let at the end of 2012. The commercial center is on schedule for an opening planned for the end of March 2013.  Full Article

H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB Extends Collaboration with UNICEF; Launches New All for Children Collection

H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB (H&M) announced that it is extending its All for Children collaboration with UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund, to include Bangladesh. In total H&M will contribute USD 7.99 million to the project, which is H&M's main donation to community investment to date. All for Children is the name that H&M gives to the long-term projects that H&M supports to promote education and better health for children in countries where H&M operates. The project in Bangladesh will run from 2012 to 2017. The project goal is for approximately 40,000 children aged from three to 14 years in targeted slums around Dhaka to have improved access to education, basic life skills and social protection services. The expected long-term impact of the project is to contribute to overall poverty reduction and improved livelihoods for families, and in a wider context to improve social development in Bangladesh. In addition, on October 18, 2012, H&M will launch a new All for Children collection. 25% of all sales from this collection will go to UNICEF's work with All for Children in Bangladesh.  Full Article
