Immersion Corp To Pursue Damages Against HTC Corporation In District Court
Immersion Corp announced it is seeking termination of the International Trade Commission`s investigation of HTC Corporation for infringement of certain of Immersion`s patents and instead will ask for the stay of its lawsuit in the U.S. District Court to be lifted, so that Immersion may prosecute its claim against HTC for damages immediately. The ITC action was originally scheduled for final determination on October 28, 2013, after which the only remedy available to Immersion is an exclusion order against HTC preventing the importation of infringing devices into the United States. By contrast, the remedy available in U.S. District Court includes damages, attorneys` fees, and potentially injunctive relief. Full Article
Immersion Corp Enters Into Multi-Year License With Samsung; Raises FY 2013 Revenue Guidance; Issues FY 2013 EBITDA Guidance Above Analysts' Estimates
Immersion Corp announced it has entered into a multi-year license agreement with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. In addition to providing a license to Immersion's TouchSense and Integrator solutions, the agreement includes a patent license covering Samsung's prior and future use of simple forms of haptic effects, sometimes referred to as Basic Haptics, in its smartphones and other mobile devices. Having entered into this important customer agreement, the Company now in a position to raise fiscal 2013 guidance, as it expects revenues for the year to be in the range of $44-$48 million. In addition, while the Company continue to anticipate increased spending related efforts to defend and monetize IP, it expects Adjusted EBITDA for 2013 to be in the range of $12 million to $15 million. Immersion Corp Announces Settlement And License Agreement With Google Inc and Motorola Mobility Resolving Motorola Patent Litigation
Immersion Corp announced that it entered into a settlement and license agreement with Google Inc and Motorola Mobility LLC, resolving the patent infringement litigation brought by Immersion against Motorola. The litigation was initiated based on Motorola`s various uses of a simple form of haptic effects in its mobile devices, sometimes referred to as Basic Haptics. Under the settlement and license agreement, Immersion is receiving compensation for prior shipments of Motorola devices containing Basic Haptics technology, the parties have agreed to a license relating to future shipments of Motorola devices with Basic Haptics, and have resolved certain issues with respect to Google-branded smartphones containing Basic Haptics. The agreement does not extend to other manufacturers` handsets that use the Android operating system. As a result of the settlement, Immersion will dismiss all pending litigation between it and Motorola. Full Article
