KONE Corp to Deliver Escalators and Elevators to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol
KONE Corp announced that the Company has won two European tenders to deliver 43 eco-efficient elevators and 50 escalators and autowalks for the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the Netherlands. The equipment order is part of the airport's project to enable centralized security procedures in its non-Schengen area to replace security at the gates in the future. The order includes 43 KONE MonoSpace(R) elevators, 28 TravelMaster(R) 110 escalators, 13 TransitMaster(R) 120 escalators, one TransitMaster(R) 140 escalator, and eight TransitMaster(R) 185 autowalks. KONE Oyj Raises FY 2013 Revenue Guidance and Specifies FY 2013 EBIT Guidance
KONE Oyj announced that it has decided to specify its outlook for the fiscal year 2013. KONE's net sales (revenue) are estimated to grow by between 7% and 10% at comparable exchange rates in the fiscal year 2013 as compared to the fiscal year 2012. The operating income (EBIT) in the fiscal year 2013 is expected to be in the range of between EUR 870 million and EUR 920 million, assuming that translation exchange rates do not materially deviate from the situation of the beginning of 2013. Previously KONE estimated net sales in the fiscal year 2013 to grow by between 5% and 9% at comparable exchange rates as compared to 2012. The operating income (EBIT) in the fiscal year 2013 was expected to be in the range of between EUR 840 million and EUR 920 million, assuming that translation exchange rates do not materially deviate from the situation of the beginning of 2013. According to I/B/E/S Estimates, analysts on average are expecting the Company to report revenue of EUR 6,804.58 million and EBIT of EUR 922.22 million for the fiscal year 2013. Full Article
KONE Oyj Opens KONE Park Manufacturing and R&D Site in Kunshan, China-DJ
Dow Jones reported that KONE Oyj celebrated the official opening of its new KONE Park manufacturing site, engineering facility and research and development (R&D) center in the Kunshan New and Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone in Eastern China on April 10, 2013. KONE Oyj to Deliver Elevators and Escalators to New Hospital Complex in Montreal
KONE Oyj announced that the Company has been awarded a contract by Construction Sante Montreal, a Laing O'Rourke and OHL Canadian Joint Venture to install a total of 77 elevators and escalators throughout the new Universite de Montreal Hospital Center (CHUM) in Montreal. KONE will install 66 units during Phase 1 of the project, scheduled to begin at the end of 2013. Phase 1 includes the construction of the fully functioning new hospital, scheduled to open in April 2016. KONE will also deliver 11 units for Phase 2, which includes the completion of an amphitheater, library, and clinical-administrative spaces. Phase 2 is expected to commence in the fall of 2016 with the demolition of the St.-Luc Hospital and be completed in 2020. Financial details were not disclosed. Full Article
KONE Oyj Receives Order from China
KONE Oyj announced that it has won an order for 31 elevators and four KONE TravelMaster 110 escalators to be installed at the Hainan Tower, a construction project in the city of Haikou, in the Southern Chinese province of Hainan. The order includes 28 KONE MiniSpace elevators and three KONE MonoSpace elevators. The KONE MiniSpace elevators have a maximum load capacity of 1,600 kilograms and will travel at a top speed of six meters per second. The Company will also supply its KONE E-Link remote equipment monitoring system to the project. In addition to a 45-story main building that rises to a height of nearly 200 meters, the project includes an 80-meter, 17-story annex building and a lower podium. The commercial office building, which will also include shops and restaurants, is expected to be completed by the end of 2013 and will formally be opened to the public by the end of 2014. The project is contracted by Beijing Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd. and the building architects are Zhongxu Planning & Architecture Design Co., Ltd. KONE Oyj Receives New Order in India
KONE Oyj announced that it has won an order for 143 KONE MonoSpace elevators to be installed at stations in the third phase of the Delhi Metro network extension in Northern India. The contract follows previous orders for 395 elevators and 75 escalators in the first two phases of the expansion of the Delhi Metro. The new order includes 70 stainless steel elevators with glass doors and a further 73 elevators with stainless steel doors. Braille buttons and a voice announcement system are included to improve accessibility for all passengers while elevator mirrors ease accessibility for wheelchair users. The vandal-proof elevators also feature additional door photo-sensors, fire-rated glass and fire retardant low smoke cables to maximize passenger safety. The Company has been involved in the Delhi Metro extension project from the start, and the third phase is under Indian government construction. Once completed, the network will be approximately 330 kilometers long. To address the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's environmental considerations, the ordered machine-room-less KONE elevators include ecologically sound features such as energy-saving regenerative drives, LED lighting and low energy consuming motors. KONE Oyj to Equip Kuntsevo Center in Moscow in Russia
KONE Oyj announced that it has won a contract to provide the new Kuntsevo Center in Moscow, Russia, with 101 pieces of equipment, including elevators, escalators and autowalks. The redeveloped multi-use complex will rise to a height of up to 75 meters and feature 38 KONE MonoSpace Special elevators, a KONE TranSys elevator, 47 KONE TravelMaster escalators and 14 KONE Travel Master 115 autowalks. A dumbwaiter with an unusually rapid speed of 0.63 meters per second (compared to a more common 0.3 meters per second) will also be delivered to the site. A ten-year maintenance contract is included in the agreement. The new and expanded mixed-use development will include a modern shopping mall, two residential towers, a cluster of office buildings, and a 2,000-car parking facility. The total area is 246,000 square meters. The passenger elevators to be installed at the site feature car interior designs that combine mirror-polished and brushed stainless steel walls and perforated ceilings. The distinctive escalators and autowalks contain a non-standard solution of lighting inside the truss. Demolition of the existing shopping center began in July 2011, and the new development is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2014. KONE Oyj Wins Order in Chingqing in China
KONE Oyj announced that has won an order for 94 elevators and 36 escalators to be installed in the super high-rise tower, two lower towers and podium of the Chongqing International Trade and Commerce Center under construction in Chongqing, Southwest China. The deal includes seven KONE DoubleDeck elevators, 64 KONE MiniSpace elevators, 23 KONE S MonoSpace elevators, 36 KONE TravelMaster escalators, and the KONE E-Link remote monitoring system. In addition to the super high-rise tower, which includes offices and a five-star hotel, the Chongqing International Trade and Commerce Center includes a 47-story office building, a 39-story luxury serviced apartment building and a shopping mall podium. The total floor space of the buildings will exceed 680,000 square meters, and construction is expected to be completed in April 2017. Chongqing International Trade and Commerce Center is aiming for Gold-level LEED certification. The LEED framework is intended to provide a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable solutions for green building design, construction, operations and maintenance. The main contractor of the project is Chongqing Shui On Tiandi Property Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Shui On Land. The order was booked in the fourth quarter of 2012. KONE Oyj Wins New Contract from Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority
KONE Oyj announced that it has been awarded a contract by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) to replace 128 escalators at 34 stations throughout Washington, D.C.'s Metro transportation system. The contract is part of WMATA's multi-year capital improvement program known as Metro Forward. Under the agreement, the Company will replace up to 128 outdated escalators with KONE's heavy-duty transit escalators, designed to meet the needs of demanding public areas and featuring the latest in eco-efficient technology, safety, and reliability. KONE Oyj Wins Contract For Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
KONE Oyj announced that it has been awarded the contract to modernize 29 escalators and moving sidewalks at the world's busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). The project features 15 KONE EcoMod escalators ranging in rise from 13 to 46 feet and 14 moving sidewalks ranging in length from 167 to 307 feet. KONE's relationship with the airport spans over 30 years, serving as the airport's maintenance provider since its construction in 1979.Work on the project will commence in May and is expected to finish in February of 2016.
