NK Lukoil OAO Launches Kandym Group Gas Project in Uzbekistan-Interfax

Interfax reported that NK Lukoil OAO (Lukoil) has begun implementing a project on first flows at the Kandym group of fields and work up of the northern section of the Shady field in Uzbekistan, a subsidiary, Uzbekistan Operating Company LLC, said in a statement. Lukoil Uzbekistan Operating Company is working at the fields in Bukhara region under a production-sharing agreement concluded with Uzbekistan by a consortium of Lukoil (90%) and Uzbekneftegaz (10%). The project, which aims to accelerate production of gas, will be implemented under a January 2012 resolution from the Uzbek president covering supplementary measures for working up the Kandym group. Under the resolution, Lukoil and Uzbekneftegaz have until December 30, 2014 to complete the workup of the Kuvachi and Alat fields and the northern section of Shady in the Dengizkul field and put them into production. Simultaneously, the feasibility study for construction of a gas processing plant and workup of the Kandym fields must be completed. The first line of the Kandym gas processing plant is scheduled to begin operation before October 1, 2016. The Kandym group consists of six gas condensate fields. The $3 billion project will see construction of over 120 wells, gas compressor stations, gas collectors, terminals for shipping liquid hydrocarbons and granulated sulfur, housing areas for workers, electrical transmission lines, approach roads and rail lines stretching more than 40 kilometers.
