MPX Energia SA announced that on April 12, 2013 Usina Termeletrica Parnaiba I (Parnaiba I) located in the state of Maranhao, Brazil, received the authorization of the National Energy of Electrical Energy ANEEL for the entering into commercial operation of its fourth turbine with installed capacity of 169 megawatt. MPX Energia SA announced that it has completed the acquisition of the total stake of UTE MC2 Nova Venecia project by the Company, MPX E.ON Participacoes SA – a joint venture between the Company and E.ON SE, and Petra Energia SA. The value of the acquisition of the project amounts to BRL 50 million, of which 35% is paid by the Company, 35% paid by MPX E.ON Participacoes SA, and remaining 30% by Petra Energia SA.  Full Article

E.ON SE Acquires 24.5% Stake in MPX Energia SA; MPX Energia SA Announces Capital Increase; E.ON SE and MPX Energia SA Create Joint Venture

MPX Energia SA announced that on March 27, 2013 its controlling shareholder Mr. Eike Fuhrken Batista (EB) and E.ON SE (E.ON) entered into an agreement on March 28, 2013 aimed at the acquisition of a 24.5% stake in the Company by E.ON corresponding to 141,544,637 shares and a subsequent primary offering registered upon the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) at the value of approximately BRL 1.2 billion and the value per share of BRL 10.00 which will be done in the second quarter of 2013 and which will augment the Company's share capital. Once the offer completed, the Company will submit to the proposal of the general meeting the establishment by the Company of MPX E.ON Participacoes SA, a joint venture between the Company and E.ON (JV). After the acquisition of shares, E.ON will be holder of a 36.2% stake in the Company. Acquisition price is BRL 10.00 per share. The Company will keep the market informed on the issue.  Full Article

Maire Tecnimont SpA announced that on March 27, 2013 its subsidiary Tecnimont do Brasil together with Efacec do Brasil has concluded the sale of the special purpose vehicle Mabe Construcao e Administracao de Projectos LTDA (Mabe) to MPX Energia SA and EDP Energias do Brasil SA. MPX Energia SA announced that its Parnaiba Thermal Power Plant I on February 20, 2013 obtained the authorization of the National Agency of Electrical Energy (Aneel) to start the commercial operation of the second turbine with an installed capacity of 169 megawatts. SAO PAULO, March 28 - Eike Batista, who lost the title of Brazil's richest man as his fortune shrank by two-thirds in the past year, agreed to sell a stake in power company MPX Energia SA to Germany's E.ON SE for about 2.1 billion reais ($1 billion).
