Business Standard reported that Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd and Oil India Ltd are unlikely to buy an 11% stake being shed by Malaysian state firm Petronas in Venezuela's Petrocarabobo petroleum project, sources close to the companies said on Tuesday. ONGC may not want to up its share as it is already seeking to raise debt to fund recent acquisitions in Mozambique, one of the sources said. Another source said Oil and Natural Gas Corp is studying the possibility of buying Petronas' stake. A source at Oil India also said his company was unlikely to buy Petronas' stake. Both sources declined to be identified because of the sensitivity of the subject.  Full Article

The Economic Times reported that State-owned Oil India Ltd said it will raise $800-$900 million in foreign debt to finance share in the $2.5 billion acquisition of a stake in Mozambique gas field it is making with ONGC. Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) and OIL, announced that they will buy Videocon Industries' 10% stake in Mozambique gas field for $2.5 billion. Business Standard reported that After announcing a major deal, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd's ONGC Videsh Ltd withdraws press statement that said it along with Oil India Ltd will buy Videocon Industries Ltd's 10% stake in Mozambique gas field for $2.475 billion. The acquisition is to be done through a joint venture of OVL, the overseas arm of state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) and OIL, the earlier statement issued by ONGC said.
