Royal Dutch Shell PLC:Shell has started discussions with employees in Australia about job reductions, the company said on Wednesday, as part of plans to cut 10,300 jobs worldwide to lower costs. - RTRS."Shell last week commenced conversations with employees about business efficiency and staffing levels – as a result of combining it with the previously BG-owned QGC – a process that will lead to job reductions," a spokesman said.Shell is in the process of integrating assets it acquired as part of its $50 billion takeover of gas producer BG Group, including BG's Australian subsidiary QGC. The integration of BG will lead to 2,800 job losses, Shell has said.This week, Shell announced the closure of BG's British headquarters by the end of the year and the start of a voluntary redundancy programme for staff in Britain.  Full Article

Royal Dutch Shell PLC:Royal Dutch Shell will close the head office of BG Group, the gas producer it agreed to acquire for $50 billion in February, by the end of the year, it said on Monday - RTRS.The oil major will offer voluntary redundancy packages to staff at the BG headquarters in Reading, near London, and has opened all internal Shell vacancies to BG employees, it said.Shell also said it would close BG's Aberdeen office to focus onshore operations in the Scottish oil town at its own site.Shell will also close its Brabazon House office in Manchester by the end of 2017, it said.Shell said in December that it expected to cut around 2,800 roles globally across the combined group, or approximately 3 percent of the total workforce.  Full Article

Royal Dutch Shell Plc:Bulgaria's anti-monopoly watchdog said it had raided the offices of Eco Petroleum, part of Hellenic Petroleum, and Shell Bulgaria, owned by Royal Dutch Shell, in an investigation into possible cartel agreements - RTRS.Bulgarians complain of high fuel costs despite a plunge in global oil prices and a call by Prime Minister Boiko Borisov for the competition authority to speed up checks on the fuel sector."Employees of the Commission for Protection of Competition are carrying out surprise checks on site at the offices of Eco Bulgaria and Shell Bulgaria," the commission said in a statement on Friday.Eco and Shell both confirmed in separate statements that checks were being made place at their offices and said they were fully cooperating, but denied any wrongdoing.Eco Petroleum said the only reason it was included in the probe was that it is Bulgaria's fourth biggest fuel retailer.The companies being investigated are all members of the Bulgarian Petrol and Gas Association, which has said there are no cartel agreements between any of its members.The latest raids follow others earlier this month on the Bulgarian offices of Russia's Lukoil LKOH.MM and Romania's Rompetrol RORRC.BX.It has also launched a probe into the Lukoil Neftochim Burgas oil refinery over possible breaches of competition rules related to the sale of its fuels on the local market.  Full Article

Royal Dutch Shell PLC:Royal Dutch Shell RDSa.L said on Wednesday Dutch investigators recently visited its headquarters in the Hague in the Netherlands in relation to an investigation into a Nigerian offshore oil field. - RTRS."Representatives of the Dutch Financial Intelligence and Investigation Service and the Dutch Public Prosecutor recently visited Shell at its headquarters, " a spokesman said."The visit was related to OPL 245, an offshore block in Nigeria that was the subject of a series of long-standing disputes with the Federal Government of Nigeria." Royal Dutch Shell PLC:Italian prosecutors are investigating Royal Dutch Shell over allegations of international corruption in relation to a big Nigeria oil deal that also involved rival Eni ENI.MI, a judicial source said on Wednesday. - RTRS.Milan prosecutors opened a corruption probe into Eni in 2014 in a case relating to a $1.3 billion acquisition of Nigeria's OPL-245 offshore oil block in 2011 by the Italian company and Shell.They later placed under investigation Eni's Chief Executive Claudio Descalzi and another top manager at the company.The probe has now been widened to Shell, the source said, confirming a report in Corriere della Sera daily on Wednesday. Royal Dutch Shell PLC:A strike at Nigeria's state oil firm NNPC has not affected production in the key Rivers State in the Niger Delta, a labour union official said on Wednesday. - RTRS.The strike affected only administrative staff at NNPC, not workers at production units, said Chika Onuegbu, an official at the PENGASSAN union which has called a strike to protest against a government plan to overhaul NNPC.He said production units of NNPC's foreign partners Shell, Agip and Chevron and subsidiaries were also working normally.  Full Article

Royal Dutch Shell PLC:Oil giant Shell is being sued in London for the second time in five years over spills in the Niger Delta - BBC.Two communities are claiming compensation and want Shell to clean up their land. Shell said it is at an "early stage" in reviewing the claims and that the case should be heard in Nigeria.The Ogale community of about 40,000 people in Rivers State, on the coast of Nigeria, who are mainly farmers or fishermen, are some of the claimants.Their case is being handled by law firm Leigh Day. Spills since 1989 have meant they don't have clean drinking water, farmland or rivers, their claim says.It points to a November 2015 report by Amnesty International which says four spill sites Shell says it planned to clean up are still contaminated.The first court hearing is due on Wednesday at the Technology and Construction Court, which will determine if the claimants can lodge a case against Shell's Nigerian business, known as Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC).  Full Article

Royal Dutch Shell PLC:Bulgaria's competition watchdog has launched an investigation into the country's only oil refinery and seven fuel retailers over possible petrol and diesel price-fixing - RTRS.The Commission for Protection of Competition said on Thursday that it had begun investigating the Bulgarian operations of Royal Dutch Shell, OMV, Hellenic Petrolleum, Nis Petrol, Lukoil, Rompetrol and Bulgarian Petrol Nis Petrol is majority owned by Gazprom Neft.The Lukoil Neftochim Burgas oil refinery is also under scrutiny over potential breaches of competition rules while selling its fuels on the local market, the watchdog said.The investigation follows complaints by Bulgarians over high fuel costs despite a plunge in global oil prices and a request by Prime Minister Boiko Borisov that the competition authority hastens checks on the fuel sector.A Lukoil Bulgaria spokeswoman said the company would not comment on the matter until it had seen the watchdog's documents, while an OMV spokesman said the Austrian company does not comment on ongoing investigations.The other companies did not respond immediately to requests for comment.The competition authority said it has launched the full investigation after an analysis of the fuel sector in the European Union country between 2013 and 2015 found that the retail price policy of the 7 companies was very similar and too slow to reflect drops in wholesale and production prices.  Full Article

Royal Dutch Shell PLC:A fire at Royal Dutch Shell's Martinez, California, refinery was quickly extinguished on Friday afternoon, CBS San Francisco Bay Area reported on its news website. - RTRS.The fire, located in a duct at the 156,400 barrel-per-day refinery, was reported at around 2:45 p.m. and was put out within 10 minutes, the report said, quoting company officials.There were no injuries and the cause of the fire was under investigation, the report added. Contra Costa County Fire Protection District officials said they were called to respond to a fire at the refinery, but the request was quickly canceled, according to the report.  Full Article
