Saab AB:Says Defence and security company Saab has been selected by Airports Authority of India.To deploy Advanced - Surface Movement Guidance & Control Systems (A-SMGCS) at five airports in India.Saab A-SMGCS will enhance situational awareness and runway safety at these growing airports.Saab will be deploying its A3000 A-SMGCS, Saab multilateration and SR-3 Surface Movement Radars (SMR) to Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Guwahati, Jaipur, and Lucknow Airports.A3000 A-SMGCS will fuse multilateration and SMR surveillance data to provide air traffic controllers with precise surveillance of airports' runways and taxiways, along with the identification of aircraft.In addition, A-SMGCS will feature Safety Logic runway incursion detection and alerting algorithms to provide controllers with advanced warnings of potential runway incursions.Says A-SMGCS will also include functionality for Airport-Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) initiatives.  Full Article

Saab AB:Defence and security company Saab's acquisition of Swedish shipyard Thyssen Krupp Marine Systems AB (TKMS AB formerly Kockums) has now been completed.Acquisition strengthens Saab's position as a comprehensive supplier of naval military systems.Required decisions and approvals for Saab's acquisition of Thyssen Krupp Marine Systems AB (TKMS AB) have now been granted.Says it will become business unit within Saab's business area Security and Defence Solutions.Business unit is named Saab Kockums. Saab expects that operations will continue to be carried out primarily in Malm√∂, Karlskrona and Musk√∂.In June, Saab and FMV signed a Letter of Intent regarding Swedish armed forces' underwater capabilities.With the acquisition of TKMS AB, Saab, together with Swedish authority, is able to ensure access to existing knowledge and intellectual properties (IPR) necessary for continued development, production and maintenance in underwater sector for both Swedish and the international markets.Cost of acquisition, which is financed by existing funds, amounted to MSEK 340.Impact of transaction on Saab's results for 2014 is not considered to be significant.  Full Article

Carmaker NEVS lays off staff as Saab plant stays idle

STOCKHOLM, Sept 24 - Cash-strapped China's National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) said on Wednesday it would lay off up to 200 staff at its Saab car plant in Sweden as production is unlikely to resume anytime soon.
