Safran SA's Morpho and Orange SA Launch Mobile Healthcare Solution

Monday, 1 Jul 2013 08:00pm EDT

Safran SA's Morpho and Orange SA announced the launch of a mobile healthcare solution which allows users to obtain medical information using their smartphone. The system works by first registering healthcare professionals and patients in the system to create their derived identity and store it in their SIM cards. Every time the user tries to connect to a healthcare IS or application, such as when a doctor wants to consult a patient’s medical records using a smartphone, the operator (here Orange SA) transfers the request to an authentication platform to check whether the derived identity matches the original. Correctly matching the two identities guarantees that only the right person has access to the information, or that the person is registered with social security, for example. Orange SA is overseeing the platform’s operation, while Morpho is in charge of the ID registration and validation side of things. Orange SA will also tend to service management, mobile connectivity and rollout.
