Rolta India Ltd and Sap AG announced a strategic original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement where Rolta will integrate numerous industry solutions with platform technology from SAP. Rolta will provide customers across the world with business analytics and Big Data solutions designed to exploit the power of SAP technology by combining Rolta's product with the database and technology portfolio offered by SAP. The portfolio which includes the SAP HANA platform, SAP Saybase IQ software, SAP Predictive Analysis software and SAP Strategy Management application will be embedded in Rolta's solutions. Sap AG reaffirmed fiscal 2013, guidance and expects non-IFRS software and software-related service revenue to increase by at least 10% at constant currencies (2012: EUR13.25 billion). Non-IFRS cloud subscription and support revenue of around EUR750 million at constant currencies (2012: EUR343 million). Reuters reported that Sap AG has named Luka Mucic as its new Chief Financial Officer to succeed Werner Brandt, who said earlier this year that he would step down. Werner is due to leave when his contract ends in June 2014. Full Article
Reuters reported that BlackBerry Ltd on the block as its smartphone business struggles, is in talks with Cisco Systems Inc, Google Inc and SAP AG about selling them all or parts of itself. The Company, based in Waterloo, Ontario, has asked for preliminary expressions of interest from potential strategic buyers, which also include Intel Corp, LG Electronics Inc and Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, by early next week. It is unclear which parties will bid, if any. But the potential technology buyers have been especially interested in BlackBerry's secure server network and patent portfolio, although doubts about the assets’ value remain an issue. Google, Intel, Cisco, LG and SAP declined to comment. Samsung was not immediately available for comment. Full Article
Dow Jones reported that Sap AG said that Jim Hagemann Snabe, its Co-CEO since 2010, would step down from that role next years. The move will leave the Company's other Co-CEO Bill McDermott as the sole Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Company's CTO Vishal Sikka, who also sits on its board of directors, is based in Palo Alto, Calif., and is considered a candidate to join McDermott as the next co-CEO once Hagemann Snabe's departure is effective. SA Esker announced that its cloud-based fax and invoice automation services have been integrated into Sap AG's Business by Design, a business management solution aimed at small and medium-sized businesses as well as subsidiaries of larger companies which use Sap AG products. Reuters reported that SAP AG has bought Swiss software developer hybris to expand its customer management platform. The two companies announced the deal on Wednesday, but did not divulge financial details. SAP paid between $1 billion and $1.5 billion for the company. The SAP-hybris transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of this year. Full Article
Cap Gemini SA Announces Partnership Agreement with SAP AG to Develop Extreme Applications for Retail Built on SAP HANA
Cap Gemini SA announced a relationship with SAP AG to develop Extreme Applications for the retail industry, built on the SAP HANA platform. These business applications will integrate Capgemini IP on top of the platform, including industry-specific data models, KPIs, dashboards and predictive analytics. As part of this initiative, Cap Gemini SA is developing applications with pilot customers and will resell them through its global sales channels worldwide, while SAP AG is overseeing the business compliance of the applications via its retail industry business unit.The first phase of the rollout, planned to begin in mid-September 2013, will be to priority geographies including North America, the Netherlands, the UK, France, Spain and India. Beyond this initiative with SAP AG on Extreme Applications, Cap Gemini SA aims to bring to market 15 to 20 applications built on top of SAP AG platforms for various industries within the next 24 months.
