Silicon Graphics International Corp announced that for the first quarter of 2014, it expects total revenue to be approximately $147 million, which compares with guidance of $160 to $170 million as provided in the earnings press release of August 6, 2013, GAAP net loss to be $6 to $7 million, or $(0.21) to $(0.18) per share, which compares with guidance of a GAAP net loss of $(0.14) to $(0.07) per share and Non-GAAP net income to be $1 to $1.5 million, or $0.02 to $0.04 per diluted share, which compares with guidance of non-GAAP net income of $0.07 to $0.14 per diluted share. For fiscal 2014, it expects that the government shutdown and possible spillover effects could result in a reduction in revenue of approximately 10% versus its prior revenue expectations of approximately $760 million, GAAP Net Loss of $(6) million to $(7) million and Non-GAAP Net Income of $1 million to $1.5 million. According to I/B/E/S Estimates, analysts are expecting the Company to report revenue of $165 million and EPS of $0.09 for first quarter of 2014; revenue of $764 million and net income of $37 million for fiscal 2014.  Full Article

Silicon Graphics International Corp announced it has acquired the assets of FileTek, Inc., a global provider of Big Data storage virtualization, large-scale data management, and Active Archive. This acquisition expands SGI's leadership, delivering storage solutions that enable customers to manage data assets efficiently, reduce administrative overhead, and lower the cost of high-volume storage. Under the terms of the agreement, SGI has acquired the highly complementary assets of FileTek, including its StorHouse and Trusted Edge software, worldwide customers, engineering team, and services and support resources. Silicon Graphics International Corp announced that for first quarter of 2014, it expects revenue to be $160 million to $170 million. GAAP net loss per diluted share to be $(0.14) to $(0.07) and is expected to reflect approximately $7 million of total adjustments, including restructuring and severance charges, stock-based compensation expense, and intangibles amortization. Non-GAAP net income per diluted share (EPS) is expected to be $0.07 to $0.14 and is expected to exclude the $7 million of total adjustments mentioned above. Silicon Graphics International Corp announced that the United States Department of Defense (DoD) has deployed the SGI(R) ICE(TM) X high performance computing (HPC) system for its supercomputer Spirit, making it the 14th fastest supercomputer in the world according to TOP500. The SGI ICE X system has been deployed as part of the DoD's High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP), which provides compute resources for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) DoD Supercomputing Research Center (DSRC).  Full Article
