Cie de Saint-Gobain SA's wholly owned subsidiary SAGE Electrochromics, Inc. announced that Dow Corning has used its SageGlass tintable glazings in its extension of the Solar Energy Exploration and Development (SEED) centre, a research and development facility in Seneffe, Belgium. SageGlass is electronically tintable dynamic glass that maximizes daylight and outdoor views in the building while controlling glare and heat gain without using internal or external shading. SageGlass was installed into the SEED centre as structural glazing using Dow Corning silicones. The windows are managed by the SageGlass control system in two automatic switching zones.  Full Article

Cie de Saint-Gobain SA Inaugurates Plasterboard Factory in Russia

Cie de Saint-Gobain SA announced that it has inaugurated the production of its first plasterboard factory in Russia. Situated in Nizhny Novgorod region, close to the city of Gomzovo, this new site includes also a gypsum mine and represents an investment of approximately EUR 70 million. Cie de Saint-Gobain SA Updates on Sale of Verallia North America

Cie de Saint-Gobain SA announced that it has accepted the purchase offer of Ardagh on Verallia North America for an enterprise value of USD1,694 million (around EUR 1,275 million). The transaction is subject to authorization by the Federal Trade Commission (F.T.C). The F.T.C. filed a complaint in Federal Court seeking to prevent the sale from being consummated. Cie de Saint-Gobain SA and Ardagh intend to vigorously defend the transaction in litigation, whilst at the same time working with the F.T.C to seek to resolve its concerns.  Full Article

Cie de Saint-Gobain SA announced details of its share repurchase program. The Company currently holds 3,699,288 of its own shares, that is 0.7% of the share capital. Under the terms of the program, the Company may repurchase a maximum of 10% of its share capital, that is 53,112,564 shares on March 31, 2013. The program targets the Company's ordinary shares with a nominal value of EUR 4. The maximum price per share to be paid as part of the program is EUR 80. The program is to last for a period of 18 months from the date of the Annual General meeting, that is from June 6, 2013 until December 5, 2014.  Full Article

Cie de Saint-Gobain SA Wins USD 200 Million Contract in Kuwait

Cie de Saint-Gobain SA announced that Saint-Gobain PAM, the parent company of Saint-Gobain's Pipe Activity, has signed a contract (Az-Zour) to supply pipes and fittings for the Kuwait Ministry of Electricity & Water. The USD 200 million (around EUR 154 million) contract represents a total order of 120,000 metric tons of large-diameter ductile cast iron pipes for the Pont-a-Mousson plant in France. The contract will be executed over a period of 15 months. An initial order under the contract, worth USD 40 million (around EUR 31 million), has already been recorded, with delivery scheduled for the end of the second quarter. A second order, worth around USD 80 million (around EUR 61 million), should be executed in the second half of the year.  Full Article

WASHINGTON, April 10 - The European packaging company Ardagh Group S.A. won U.S. antitrust approval to buy Saint-Gobain Containers Inc after agreeing to sell six of its nine glass container manufacturing plants in the United States, the Federal Trade Commission said on Thursday.
