Skanska AB To Build Bus Depot In Gustavsberg, Sweden, For SEK375 Million-DJ

Dow Jones reported that Skanska AB has signed a contract with AB Storstockholms Lokaltrafik, SL, for constructing a new bus depot in Charlottendal, Gustavsberg, east of Stockholm in Sweden. The contract is worth SEK 375 million, which will be included in order bookings for Skanska Sverige the second quarter 2013. The bus depot will be situated in Ekobacken 1, about two kilometers south of central Gustavsberg. It will be dimensioned for 140 buses and will, amongst other things, include a workshop, parking lots and offices. Project work will start immediately and construction is planned for mid -January 2014. The facility is planned to be completed in the summer of 2016.  Full Article

Lemminkainen Oyj and Skanska AB Start Construction on S Group's New Logistics Centre in Sipoo

Lemminkainen Oyj announced that a consortium formed by Lemminkainen and Skanska AB, Freeway, is starting the construction of the S Group's new logistics centre for daily consumer goods in Bastukarr, Sipoo in southern Finland. The construction project's procurement process has progressed over the course of the spring, and the first construction works will be initiated this summer. The parties have agreed on the first purchases and the initiation of construction. The actual construction contracts will be made separately for each phase of the project. The project is being carried out in five overlapping phases. Lemminkainen and Skanska have equal shares in the consortium.  Full Article

Fastighets Balder AB Acquires Property in Gothenburg from Skanska AB

Fastighets Balder AB announced that it acquires the property Lindholmen 39:2 in Gothenburg from Skanska AB for approximately SEK 420 million. The property has a total lettable area of approximately 13,299 square meters and consists of 265 hotel rooms. The hotel will be operated under the brand SAS Radisson Blu. The building will be certified under the LEED environmental classification system with the aim to obtain the gold level.  Full Article

Balfour Beatty Plc Wins Thames Water Contract with Skanska AB and MWH Global for GBP 1.5 Billion

Balfour Beatty Plc announced that its joint venture with Skanska AB and MWH Global, SMB, has secured a seven-year contract with Thames Water which will help to ensure the resilience of the water infrastructure in London and the South for future generations. The contract is worth GBP 1 billion to GBP 1.5 billion to the joint venture, shared equally between the three partners. It will begin in May 2013 with the 23-month Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) phase, in preparation for the delivery of the sixth Asset Management Plan (AMP). Running from April 2015 to March 2020, AMP6 involves the design and construction of the water infrastructure network including replacing pipes, pumping stations and water treatment works. SMB will be providing design-and-build solutions as part of Thames Water's 'super-alliance' of industry organizations in a move that reflects Thames Water's decision to confirm its partners two years before the following five-year regulatory period, transforming the way it delivers capital investment.  Full Article

Skanska AB to Construct Subway in Oslo in Norway

Skanska AB announced that Skanska Norway has signed a contract with Kollektivtransportproduksjon AS (KTP AS) for constructing the subway at Loren in Oslo, Norway. The contract is worth NOK 357 million, approximately SEK 406 million, and will be included in the order bookings for Skanska Norway for the second quarter of 2013. The contract is one of several enterprises in the extension of Lorenbanen subway, and comprises, among other things, construction of several tunnels, a station hall and road alterations as well as electrical and water supply construction. Work will commence in June 2013 and is scheduled to be completed in October 2015.  Full Article

Skanska AB to Construct Cultural Center in Norway

Skanska AB announced that Skanska Norway has signed a contract with Stjordal Kulturutvikling AS for the construction of a regional cultural centre in Stjordal, Norway. The contract is worth NOK 381 million, approximately SEK 434 million, and will be included in order bookings for Skanska Norway for the second quarter 2013. The construction comprises of a total of 11,500 square meters and will contain a church, library, education centre, several cinemas, dance halls, concert halls, a gallery and meeting rooms. There will also be a 4,200 square meters park under ground level. Preparatory works have started. Construction will be completed in May 2015.  Full Article

Skanska AB Invests in Office Project in Wroclaw in Poland

Skanska AB announced that it invests EUR 42 million, approximately SEK 357 million, in phase I of the Dominikanski office project in Wroclaw, in Poland. The total leasable space for the entire project will be approximately 40,000 square meters. The Dominikanski is located in the center of Wroclaw. The building will consist of seven storeys, with two underground levels of garage for approximately 370 parking spaces. The building will be LEED certificated, meeting environmental standards and featuring a number of sustainable solutions, which will enable tenants to reduce the operating costs. Dominikanski is Skanska’s fourth office project in Wroclaw, after Grunwaldzki Center and Green Towers, already completed, and Green Day, under construction. Construction of phase I will start in the beginning of May 2013 and is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2015.  Full Article

Skanska AB Divests Interest in Five Social Infrastructure Projects in United Kingdom

Skanska AB announced that the Company is to divest its share of three school projects and two street lighting projects in the United Kingdom (UK) for GBP 22 million, about SEK 220 million. The buyer is the Skanska Pension Fund (Skanska UK’s main pension scheme) and the transaction will be recorded in the second quarter of 2013. Skanska held 45-53% equity in the three school projects, Bristol (45.5%), Essex (52%) and Woodlands (53%) and 50% equity in the street lighting projects in Surrey and Croydon. Skanska will retain an indirect 7-8% share of the three school projects for the Local Education Partnership commitment. Two of the projects, Bristol and Essex, are in full operation, with the remaining three still under construction. Skanska UK will continue to manage and carry out construction, maintenance and operation services on these projects.  Full Article

Skanska AB Signs Power Plant Construction Contract in United States

Skanska AB announced that it has signed a construction contract with an existing electric power client. The contract is worth USD 101 million, about SEK 650 million, in order bookings for Skanska USA Civil for the second quarter 2013. Skanska Industrial contractors will perform structural and mechanical installation on an environmental compliance project. The contract includes structural steel, ductwork, piping and electric cabling. Skanska is currently completing the construction of a pedestrian tunnel on the same campus. Work will commence in April 2013, with anticipated completion in July 2015.  Full Article
