Shiseido Co Ltd Expects Extraordinary Loss for Q2 of FY 2014 and Amends Mid-year Consolidated Outlook for FY 2014; Reaffirms Mid-term and Year-end Dividend Forecasts for FY 2014

Shiseido Co Ltd announced that it expects the extraordinary loss of approximately JPY 6.5 billion caused by recall of inventories for the second quarter of fiscal year 2014. The Company has reaffirmed its mid-year consolidated outlook for revenue of JPY 360,000 million, raised its mid-year consolidated outlook for operating profit from JPY 15,000 million to JPY 20,000 million, ordinary profit from JPY 15,000 million to JPY 21,000 million, and lowered its mid-year consolidated outlook for net profit from JPY 7,000 million to JPY 5,500 million, and earnings per share from JPY 17.58 to JPY 13.81, for the fiscal year ending March 2014. The Company raised its mid-year consolidated outlook for operating profit and ordinary profit mainly due to the improvement of efficiency of sales management cost and delay of expense, and lowered its mid-year consolidated outlook for net profit mainly due to the extraordinary loss caused by recall of inventories. The Company also has reaffirmed its mid-term and year-end dividend forecasts of JPY 10 per share respectively, for the same fiscal year.
