Subsea 7 SA Announces New Build Heavy Construction Vessel

Subsea 7 SA announced that the Company has signed a contract to build a new heavy construction vessel which will be delivered in 2016. The vessel will have 2,600 square meter deck area (for equipment carriage), a 600t Active Heave Compensated offshore crane, a 325t top tension vertical lay system and a 7,000t under-deck basket for storage of flexible pipes, umbilicals and cables. She will be equipped with six main engines in two engine rooms designed to maximise performance in Dynamic Positioning Class III. Korean company Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) will build the new vessel, and the main crane and the vertical lay system will be provided by Huisman.
