Talvivaaran Kaivososakeyhtio Oyj's Metals Plant Goes Back Online After Leak-Reuters
Reuters reported that Talvivaaran Kaivososakeyhtio Oyj announced that its metals plant in eastern Finland is back online almost a week after it was shut down by a waste water leak. Following the leak detected at the Sotkamo mine on April 7, 2013, the Company had to halt metals production while it plugged the leak and built new pipes. The mine has been hit by serial production problems. In November 2013, toxic waste water seeped into waters near the plant, halting production for weeks. On April 15, 2013, the Company announced it raised EUR 261 million (USD 341.5 million) in a rights issue to keep the mine running and roll over debt maturing in May 2013.
