Brazilian antitrust authority proposes to impose fine on Telefonica SA-Reuters

Telefonica SA:The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE), a Brazilian antitrust authority, proposed to impose a fine on Telefonica SA for the actions undertaken to increase its control of Telecom Italia SpA-Reuters.The antitrust authority said the company violated an agreement from 2010 that sought to separate the interests of both firms in Brazil.In a non-biding report CADE affirmed that Telefonica should immediately sell the shares acquired in Telco, the holding company that controls Telecom Italia.The attorney general of CADE proposed a fine in the amount of 15 million Brazilian reias ($6.5 million).The agency might decide on the fine on Dec. 4.
