Telenor ASA:The chief financial officer and legal director of telecoms firm Telenor have resigned following the conclusion of an external report into how Telenor handled allegations of corruption at Amsterdam-based Vimpelcom VIP.O, Telenor said on Friday - RTRS.The report by auditor firm Deloitte did not find that any Telenor employees have been involved in corrupt actions or any other legal offences but does uncover internal weaknesses in the company, Telenor said.Telenor also said it had uncovered two cases of possible misconduct at daughter company Dtac DTAC.BK in Thailand and in another country, which it did not name at the request of local authorities as the police investigation is ongoing.  Full Article

Telenor ASA:Norway's government invited the heads of top company boards to talks on corruption as offshore banking revelations added to a string of allegations over the ethics of some of the country's largest firms - RTRS.The invitation follows the leak of more than 11.5 mln documents from the files of a Panama-based law firm, allegedly showing how clients avoided tax or laundered money.Among the leaked material on hundreds of thousands of clients in multiple jurisdictions were revelations that top Norwegian bank DNB helped customers set up offshore companies in the Seychelles.DNB, in which the state owns 34%, said it regretted assisting about 40 customers in setting up the firms between 2006 and 2010, and that the practice had ended."It's the customers' responsibility to report their own funds to tax authorities. Still, we believe we should not have contributed to establishing these companies," Chief Executive Rune Bjerke said.A parliament committee is looking into cases concerning oil firm Statoil, telecoms company Telenor and aluminium producer Norsk Hydro about their own or their affiliates' dealings in Angola, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan respectively.All three firms, in which the state has stakes, have denied wrongdoing.Norsk Hydro said it expected it would attend the June meeting.In a separate statement, the minister said bank DNB must now provide a written explanation of its policy of helping clients set up offshore companies.  Full Article

Telenor ASA:Says to acquire marketing technology firm Tapad, a New York-based startup established in 2010 by Norwegian entrepreneur Are Traasdahl.Purchase price is $360 million, on a debt and cash-free 100 pct basis​ ‍.Acquisition enables Telenor to take a position within rapidly growing market for advertising technology, and secures important competence within digital marketing and analytics.Says Tapad delivers unified cross-device marketing technology solutions that give publishers, marketers and technology providers a holistic view of consumers across devices and screens, including smartphones, tablets, home computers and smart TVs.In FY 2015, Tapad is expected to report revenues of $57 million, growing at 70 pct compared to FY 2014, and an EBITDA loss of $12 million.In FY 2016, revenues are estimated to increase to around $90 million.Expects Tapad to reach EBITDA break-even in 2017.Tapad has about 160 employees, with offices in 13 key cities in the U.S. and Europe.The main sellers are Are Traasdahl and his investment company Spring Capital (in total 46.5 pct), FirstMark Capital, Firsthand Technology, Avalon Ventures, WPP and Metamorphic Ventures​.  Full Article
