Telenor ASA Declares Dividend Of NOK 6.00 Per Share
Telenor ASA announced a dividend of NOK 6.00 per share. This is the highest dividend to be paid out to shareholders since the Company was stock listed in December 2000. As a result of the approved dividend, the shares in Telenor ASA will be traded ex dividend NOK 6.00 as from 16 May 2013. Telenor ASA Announces Issuance of Bonds
Telenor ASA announced that it issued on May 13, 2013 two bond tranches under the company's EMTN program. The bond tranches are EUR 650,000,000 bond with coupon 2.50% and final maturity on May 22, 2025, and a USD 500,000,000 bond with coupon 1.75% and final maturity on May 22, 2018. Both tranches will settle on May 22, 2013. Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes including funding of the acquisition of Globul in Bulgaria. Full Article
Telenor ASA Signs Cooperation Agreement with Northeastern University
Telenor ASA announced that it has recently signed a cooperation agreement with Northeastern University, a private research institution in Boston, the United States. The cooperation will cover two projects within the use of 'Big Data' in telecommunication. The partnership with the renowned research University is the first for the Telenor Group in the United States. The two projects are examples of applied research. The first project looks at viral spreading. In collaboration with David Lazer, a professor of political science and computer and information science at Northeastern, the Telenor team is analyzing how products or services spread in socially connected groups. The research has started in one of the Telenor companies in Asia, while another pilot in Europe will launch in summer 2013. The second project is regarding "predicting success." For this project, Telenor is co-operating with Dashun Wang, a Ph.D. student in Northeastern's Center for Complex Network Research, on predicting service or product adoption based on a short initial phase of sales performance. Telenor ASA Maintains FY 2013 EBITDA Margin Guidance and Adjusts Organic Revenue Growth Outlook
Telenor ASA announced that based on the performance in the first quarter and the Company's estimates for the rest of the year, Telenor has decided to adjust the fiscal year 2013 outlook for organic revenue growth somewhat to 2-4%. Telenor ASA to Acquire Mobile Operator in Bulgaria
Telenor ASA announced that the Company has signed an agreement with OTE to acquire Bulgarian mobile operator Globul for a total amount of EUR 717 million on a cash and debt free basis. Globul is the second largest mobile operator in Bulgaria with 4.5 million subscribers and a market share of 36%. The transaction also includes Germanos Bulgaria, a telecom retailer in the country operationally integrated with Globul. The transaction is subject to relevant merger control approvals and is expected to be finalised in Q3 2013. Full Article
KBC Groupe SA Reaches Agreement with Societe Generale Srbija and Telenor ASA's Telenor Serbia on the Acquisition of KBC Banka (Serbia)
KBC Groupe SA announced that it has reached an agreement with Societe Generale Srbija and Telenor ASA's Telenor Serbia on the acquisition of KBC Banka, KBC's banking entity in Serbia. Under the agreement, Telenor will purchase 100% of KBC Banka's shares, while Societe Generale Srbija will acquire KBC Banka's key assets and deposits. All the parties involved agreed not to disclose any financial details of the transaction. For KBC, however, the transaction will have an impact on earnings of an estimated EUR -47 million. Telenor ASA Announces Details on FY 2012 Dividend
Telenor ASA announced that its Board of Directors proposes a dividend payment of NOK 6.00 per share for fiscal year 2012. The dividend is payable to the Company’s shareholders registered in the Company’s shareholder register by end of May 15, 2013. There will be potential withholdings in the dividend payments to non-Norwegian shareholders for withholding tax (up to 25% of the dividend) in accordance with applicable regulations. Myanmar Names Telenor ASA And Other Bidders In Race For Two Mobile Licences-Reuters
Reuters reported that Myanmar has announced the names of 12 international consortia that have pre-qualified to bid for two mobile licences, moving closer to opening one of the last major untapped mobile markets. The companies include Bharti Airtel Ltd, China Mobile Ltd, KDDI CORP, MTN Group Ltd, Singapore Telecommunications Ltd, Telenor ASA and Digicel, a group backed by billionaire George Soros. The pre-qualified applicants will be required to submit their applications to the committee by June 3, 2013. The committee expects to announce the names of two winners to receive 15-year telecommunications licences by June 27, it said. China Mobile has teamed up with Vodafone Group Plc, while France Telecom SA is working with Marubeni Corporation, and Africa's MTN with M1 Telecom and Amara Communications. SingTel has joined with Myanmar Telephone Co Ltd and KBZ, while KDDI has teamed up with Japan's SUMITOMO CORP and Myanmar Information and Communication Technology Development Corp. Other pre-qualifiers are Axiata Group Bhd, Millicom International Cellular SA, Qatar Telecom QSC and Viettel Group. The bidding has attracted wide interest from international telecoms firms, which see huge opportunities in a country of 60 million where mobile penetration is just 5%-10%, compared with rates of over 100% in many developed markets. Telenor ASA and Google Inc to Cooperate in Norway-DJ
Dow Jones reported that Google Inc's Google Play and Telenor ASA's Telenor Norway have decided to cooperate to make it easier for Android mobile users to find relevant apps in Google Play. For the first time in Norway, customers are now able to pay for Google Play apps through their mobile phone subscriptions. Telenor ASA announced that together with Opera Software ASA it announced a re-commitment and an expansion of their partnership to bring the mobile web to Telenor's customers.
