Target Corp. To Recall 206,000 Step Stools For Falling Hazard-DJ

Thursday, 4 Aug 2011 01:56pm EDT

Dow Jones reported that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Target Corp. announced a voluntary recall of about 206,000 step stools that the agency said can break apart or collapse under the weight of the user, pose a fall hazard. Target has received 26 reports of the stools breaking or collapsing. Two adults fractured their wrists, and one of those victims also fractured her hip and pelvis. The wooden step stool has two steps and comes in various colors, with a lid on the bottom step that lifts to provide storage. The brands affected are certain models of Circo and Do Your Room. The items were sold at Target and its website from January 2007 through October 2010 for $25 to $30. The Company said consumers should immediately stop using the step stools and return them to a Target store for a full refund.
