Thai Airways International PCL:THAI AIRWAYS International plans to trim more staff this year to stop the financial bleeding - The Nation.The company has set a budget of Bt2.2 billion for the new cost-cutting plan," Narongchai Wongthanavimok, chief financial officer, said yesterday.There is still no targeted number nor time frame for this round, but it should begin in one or two months.Last year, the national carrier laid off 1,401 employees and spent more than Bt3.7 billion on the staff-reduction programme.Management will ask each department to reveal its business plan along with resource management and any surplus that needs to be eliminated.  Full Article

Thai Airways International PCL:Shares of Thai airline operators fell on Wednesday as the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) downgraded Thailand's safety ratings - RTRS.The downgrade means Thai airlines are prevented from launching or expanding services to the United States, either directly or as code-share partners - RTRS.Shares of Asia Aviation Pcl AAV.BK dropped nearly three percent. Thai Airways International PCL:Thai Airways International Pcl said on Wednesday it will cut salaries of its top management by 10 percent in November as part of a cost-cutting scheme, after posting heavy losses in the third quarter - RTRS.The flag carrier aimed to reduce operating costs by 20 billion baht ($558.19 million) during a two-year restructuring, but it has cut costs by about 7 billion baht, below the target, President Charumporn Jotikasthira told a news conference - RTRS.  Full Article
