Harris and Harris Group Inc announced the initiation of a research collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim to discover drug candidates of a novel class of small molecule drugs, called macrocycles, against several high-value pharmaceutical targets specified by Boehringer Ingelheim. Under the terms of the agreement, Ensemble is eligible to receive payments and may receive up to $186 million in success milestones in case of full commercial success of multiple drug products, including an upfront payment and research funding. Harris & Harris Group, Inc. announced that OpGen, Inc and Life Technologies Corporation have signed a collaboration agreement to develop systems, technologies and applications intended to improve the management and surveillance of microbial outbreaks in the public health and infectious disease markets. The OpGen-Life Technologies collaboration will focus on developing applications and analysis systems that enable the use of the companies' Whole Genome Mapping and Ion Torrent sequencing technologies for food outbreak and infectious disease analysis. OpGen's Whole Genome Mapping technology provides a rapid, comprehensive structural analysis of microbial genomes that, when combined with sequencing data, more accurately detects important genetic elements associated with toxicity, virulence and drug resistance. Harris & Harris Group, Inc.'s Mersana Therapeutics, Inc Entered Into Collaboration With Endo Pharmaceuticals
Harris & Harris Group, Inc. announced that its portfolio company, Mersana Therapeutics, Inc., entered into a collaboration agreement with Endo Pharmaceuticals to develop antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). Mersana's proprietary conjugation technology is comprised of its Fleximer polymer and a broad array of customizable linker chemistries for attaching diverse, potent payloads and targeted antibodies. Under this agreement, Endo will pay an upfront fee to Mersana for the right to utilize the Fleximer technology to develop ADC candidates against a single cancer target. Under the collaboration, Mersana is responsible for conducting research and creating Fleximer‑ADCs that are conjugates of its cytotoxic payloads, Fleximer, and Endo's antibodies. In addition to providing antibodies, Endo is responsible for product development, manufacturing and commercialization of any Fleximer-ADC products. Mersana and Endo may mutually agree to pursue two additional targets over the next two years. In the event that all three targets are pursued, Mersana is eligible to receive more than $270 million in progress-dependent milestones as well as royalties on worldwide net sales of any resulting Fleximer-ADC products. Harris & Harris Group, Inc. announced DuPont and Innovalight, Inc., today announced the acquisition of Innovalight, Inc., a privately held, venture-funded, solar cell technology company headquartered in Sunnyvale, CA. Harris & Harris Group made its initial investment in Innovalight in April 2006. As of March 31, 2011, Harris & Harris Group valued its position at $3,920,428.
