TeliaSonera AB Launches 4G Services in Spain through Yoigo-DJ

Dow Jones reported that TeliaSonera AB's subsidiary Yoigo will launch 4G services in Spain in July as the first operator on the Spanish market. 4G will be offered at the1800 MHz band and will give maximum speed of over 100 Mbps. By launching 4G in Spain, TeliaSonera offers 4G in all countries where the Company’s business area Mobility Services is present, including Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia and Spain.  Full Article

TeliaSonera AB Affirms FY 2013 Financial Guidance

TeliaSonera AB announced that the Company's fiscal year 2013 financial guidance remains unchanged. The Company continues to expect its fiscal year 2013 net sales in local currencies and excluding acquisitions to be flat and adds that currency fluctuations may have a material impact on reported figures in SEK. For the fiscal year 2012 the Company reported net sales of SEK 104,898 million. Additionally, the Company's fiscal year 2013 EBITDA margin excluding non-recurring items, is expected to increase slightly compared to fiscal year 2013, when it was 34.5%. According to I/B/E/S Estimates analysts on average are expecting TeliaSonera to report revenue of SEK 103,346.09 million for the fiscal year 2013.  Full Article

TeliaSonera AB Appoints Law Firm to Review Eurasia Deals-Reuters

Reuters reported that TeliaSonera AB has appointed a law firm to review its Eurasian operations following criticism of its activities in Uzbekistan and other countries. Swedish prosecutors have been carrying out a preliminary investigation since 2012 into the Company's purchase of a 3G telecom license in Uzbekistan amid allegations of bribery. Two Company’s executives have been named as suspects by prosecutors and a Swedish court has frozen the assets of the company TeliaSonera bought its Uzbek license from. A separate investigation commissioned by the Company, published earlier in 2013, did not uncover any evidence of bribery or money laundering, but criticized the deal saying a lack of due diligence made it difficult to rule out corruption somewhere along the line.  Full Article

TeliaSonera AB Initiates Collaboration with AppDirect

TeliaSonera AB announced that it has initiated collaboration with AppDirect, a supplier of application marketplaces in the cloud. Cooperation is the start of TeliaSonera's initiative involving a new marketplace for small and medium-sized businesses in the Nordic and Baltic regions. For customers, the initiative entails a one stop shop to find, try, buy and administer applications in the cloud. TeliaSonera is developing a marketplace comprising applications. This means customers obtain one location from which to manage purchases and payments, as well as a better overview of its services - which improves the level of security and cost control. Over the course of the year, the Company will conduct a pilot test where selected customers will have the opportunity to take part and impact customer experience and content. Prosecutors Identify Third Suspect in TeliaSonera AB Uzbek Probe-Reuters

Reuters reported that TeliaSonera AB announced that Swedish prosecutors have identified a third suspect in their investigation into possible corruption related to TeliaSonera AB's purchase of an Uzbekistan 3G license. The prosecutors are investigating three people in the case, which is a preliminary investigation into possible bribery and money laundering in connection with the 2007 deal. The Company has announced that the allegations are unfounded. The Company’s announced that the third suspect no longer worked at the Company. Prosecutor Gunnar Stetler declined to comment. The prosecutors are looking into allegations the Company paid SEK 2.3 billion for its 3G license to Takilant Ltd, a Gibraltar-listed company, when it knew it was a front for Gulnara Karimova, the daughter of Uzbek president Islam Karimov. A Swedish court has agreed to freeze assets belonging to Takilant. A report by a law firm the Company hired to investigate did not uncover any evidence of bribery or money laundering, but said a lack of due diligence made it difficult to rule out corruption somewhere along the line.  Full Article

TeliaSonera AB announced that it declares a dividend to shareholders of SEK2.85 per share, and April 8, 2013 was decided as the record date for the dividend. With this record date, it is estimated that the dividend will be sent out from Euroclear on April 11, 2013.  Full Article

Yoigo's market strategy does not quite match TeliaSoners's other operations, and following on that the Company has been prepared to divest it if the offered price would fully reflect Yoigo's future potential. TeliaSonera AB's Finnish Employees Plan to Strike-Reuters

Reuters reported that labor union Pro announced that several thousand Finnish employees of TeliaSonera AB plan to strike on March 27, 2013 and March 28, 2013 to protest job cuts. The Company announced the walkout may impact customer service. The Company announced in October 2012 it would cut approximately 2,000 jobs to reduce costs.  Full Article
